Am registering the ideas in the back of mah mind. The concern I'd have with "out of role play" is the focus on the actors as actors, and the idea that, say, John/Gareth would be the out-of-job version of Jack/Ianto, if that makes any sense, and that's possibly not inclusive enough to describe it, at least the first association I'd have with it would not hit my all-inclusive button. I'LL HAVE TO ASK MANDR FOR INPUT, and I'll give it more of a think.
That was largely my thought too, actually, that it emphasizes them in their roles and out of them. and while that's a great deal of the reason that they're the subjects of the RPF itself, I dunno if that's too limited. It feels like a prompt and less like a title for the whole thing itself.
Yeah, I'd agree, how it could be, yknow, one of the John and Gareth play Jack and Ianto and slide into something romantic along the side type of thing ... it would fit that particular type of RPF.
just a thought, cos that's the first thing I thought was actors out of their roles as the roles & the shows would have been what brought them all together in the first place. but then I guess that doesn't really work if you're say doing a RPF with John/Scott - cos it wouldn't have to have anything to do with TW/DW or that side of Johns life. otherwise I like RPF - Carnivale
Yeah, that was my thought, that the significant-other angle (which I know is somewhat controversial etc.) isn't quite represented by that, but well, we are still completely playing around with titles, so I LOVE INPUT! :D
There's nothing that says that you're not allowed to approach it that way. But like, sometimes when I write Scott/John, Torchwood barely gets a mention, so it's not so much about John as an actor. That could be the same with any one of them.
cos I thought mebbe
out of role play
or maybe
RPF: out of role play
or
out of role play - an RPF ficapalooza (okay - mebbe not this one :D )
