27 dresses: my review.

ok. i've put it off long enough.  here is my review.

after confirming that my bridesmaid dress for my cousin's wedding did come in and is ready to be altered, i hung up the phone, threw on a sweater and reached for my coat to meet saro for 27 dresses.  i have to say i was a little bit TOO excited to see the movie, with all the wedding excitement going on in my familly - sister and cousin - and friends like jen and cesar getting engaged, etc.  sometimes girls just want to see movies about weddings... it's just a fact.  why else would all of these nuptial-themed movies continue to find success again and again?

my very first disclaimer here is this: this movie is JUST A MOVIE. at times it was a bit far-fetched, a bit too perfect, and dare i say - cheesy.  but it's a romantic comedy, and that comes with the territory.  it's the kind of movie that makes a certain kind of girl say in her head (or to her best friend upon watching scrolling credits whisper): "i wanna get married someday."

but back to business... katherine heigl was delightful.  and i remember her fron her days in disney channel movies and on the WB's roswell.  i just think she does an awesome job carrying the movie.  also, the soundtrack. i thought the music was super cute.  james marsden WITH katherine heigl was a no-brainer.  it was totally one of those movies where you want to scream at the characters and say "it's right in front of you, you IDIOTS!" and slap them for being too pretty to be smart.

all that being said, i enjoyed it.  favorite part: when james marsden's character says to katherine heigl's character, "i cried at the keller wedding." GOOD LINE.  for those of you who have seen the movie, you know i have just revealed how cheesy and sappy of a romantic i can be.  for those of you who have not seen the movie, trust me it's a great line.

ok i'm done.  i dont really know why i felt the need to document my movie experience here in my journal, but i was thinking about it and so, here it is.  maybe i should become a critic... nope - sticking to my day job!

PS - forgot to mention, watching beautiful shots of  new york is always fun in a movie! and as in standard romantic comedy form, the heroine's apartment was adorable. i want to move there ASAP.
