audition story #952

ok so that might be a random number, but it sounded good.

this morning liz (best audition buddy EVER) and i dragged ourselves out of our warm beds in our warm (respective) apartments and in to the freezing cold new york morning.  poor liz was not having the best of days, and so i ended up going ahead of her to sign us in.  i got there at like 9 (which is kind of late really) and managed to get us numbers 20 & 21.  not too shabby. where is everyone lately???? i mean, i'm GLAD the crazies are apparently hibernating but it was a bit weird to not be sitting in full room this morning.

the audition was for vital children's theatre - and it was VERY cool.  cool people all around and just a fun and nice experience.  both liz and i got asked to sing 2 songs! YAY! and even if nothing comes from auditions like this, it is still VERY nice to have these days when people are just really paying attention to you and you get to really show your stuff. it's always better than barely being seen at some huge cattle call. also, they were reading our resumes, because when liz went in after me, they asked her where wagner college is and if she knew me, the "other wagner girl" - they gave us some really great compliments too.

it may seem a little pretentious of me to document a semi-normal dya of auditioning - but i am so glad i am.  because there are too many "bad" days where you don't feel like you're getting anywhere, blah blah blah - and it's just nice to remember these days.  and as liz said when i asked her if there was anything else we should go to today, "let's leave it on a positive note - literally." and so we both decided to get coffee and talk and then call it a day.  and i am soooooo glad we did.

in other news, going to see 27 dresses with saro and his mom tonight! i'm very excited for that  - especially since i just got off the phone with david's bridal and i spent the weekend hearing my mom talk and plan about my sister's wedding. i think this movie could put me in the right mindset - and i think i can relate to it - even if my life is more like "TWO dresses" - and that's crazy enough for me!
