so i have become re-inspired (is that a word?) to try this whole live journal thing again. it was really fun to keep track of stuff in college, and now that over a year has gone by since graduation - it helps to have my live journal archives to look back on what life used to be like! so the "future me" will probably appreciate it if i continue to keep track of stuff!
it has been an amazing year at the walnut. i have met so many incredible people, both professional contacts and really great cool friends that i hope will continue to be in my life. i learned a lot about theatre education, and about myself as an artist. i have definately found out that i need to keep acting. it's not an option right now, it needs to happen. i also learned that i love kids and i love teaching. not just the little ones either. some of my most rewarding experiences have been talking to teens who are really passionate about theatre and coaching them through audition material, etc. i have learned that i love to work with kids of all ages, and to just be a part of what it is to create theatre in a youth setting... there is just something about watching someone create something for the first time, or watching them realize they have finally found what they love. it so takes me back to my own experiences finding theatre. wow i am rambling... maybe this is why live journal is a bad idea! i talk too much!
so i'm moving to queens in september. soooo exciting! but i still can't let go of philly. i'll be coming back once a week to teach at the walnut. they even offered to cover my travel expenses... so i really can't say no. i love it, and they seem to love me. plus anytime i want to come home it's pretty much paid for. so that's nice. i'm not done with philly. i plan to audition for both new york AND philly stuff. sooo that's the plan folks!
in other news, my hairspray callbacks were SOOOOOOO fun. i had my third one on monday and i thought it went really well, but haven't heard from them. if nothing else, i know i did my best and rose to the challenge. i also fell in love with the character even more. i mean, can you imagine playing a role like that? she is so fun! and the fact that it's such a 60's piece makes it even more fun!!! i love the music. i just don't want to be done with the character yet...
so this was pretty productive for a first entry back in live journal world! hooray!!! more to come...
