BIG NEWS
ok you know there is something big happening when i decide to finally update my live journal! some of you might know something about this...
so yesterday i was at work downtown and i had promised my old bosses over at the walnut street theatre i would stop by during my lunch break to say hi. so when i went in, everyone was there, which was weird, and they said they wanted to treat me to lunch and take me out... but unfortunately i had to go back to work within the half hour so i told them i couldn't. we ended up talking for a looong time anyway. they were asking me all about my semester and life and my plans for graduation... it was really nice. THEN they asked me what my dream would be for next year... i feel really comfortable with all of them, so i said "Well, I was hoping to apply here, and this might be kind of weird to be telling you but my dream would be to work here as an apprentice for a year..." So they all started smiling and the Director of Education, Susan, says to me "Well, it would be OUR dream to have you working here with us next year." So I kind of laughed, but then I realized she was offering me the job!!!!!!!!
This was like a movie. This does not happen to me... Susan was like "Amanda, I am serious. If you want the position, it's yours. Tell me now and I will close the entire application process, you don't even need an interview." I was kind of in shock at this point, but I guess I told them I needed to talk to my parents but that more than likely I would be accepting...
SO... what this means is... I HAVE A JOB AFTER GRADUATION AND I WILL BE MOVING BACK TO PHILLY FOR A YEAR! I will be the Education Apprentice at the Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia. This means I handle the children's shows, booking with schools, creating study guides for kids, etc. I also have opportunities to understudy/audition for the MAINSTAGE equity shows, and possibly be cast in "A Christmas Carol" as well as the Spring Children's Theatre show.... ahhhhhhhhh this is CRAZY.
they are offering me health benefits, a weekly stipend, gym membership, all the free acting classes i want, and i may also be able to TEACH a children's class.
i had to document this all here because i am still processing all of this and trying to take it all in! my parents are thrilled that i will be home for a year, and i am really excited to not pay rent and have a year to prepare for new york.
PLEASE COME VISIT ME NEXT YEAR IN PHILLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
