I've Been Nudged

Dec 10, 2007 02:03

Lisa, you're such a sweetie-pie. Thanks for that little nudge :)

I'm gonna try to put all of this in a nutshell so the post won't turn out to be an epic...

I'm doing much better. Within the last couple of weeks or so I hit some kind of turning point. I guess the meds finally took full effect and I've been feeling almost normal. I've been feeling more connected with people, regained interest in my hobbies and I'm actually enjoying spending time with my family. I had my appt. with my p-doc and he was very pleased with my progress. He didn't make any changes to my meds so I don't have to see him until February.

On a sadder note, UUTS is not doing so good. Long story short...he's an addict and has been abusing his meds. While he was in Texas last month (he drives 18-wheelers), he had some kind of "episode" in a convenience store. The cops were called, he went to jail and was obviously traumatized by the event because upon his return home, he placed a call to his p-doc who in turn called Rick. She conveyed her concern to him without divulging the message but urged Rick to get UUTS to a hospital pronto. This took place on the day of my p-doc appt. so I discussed it with him. He agreed, based on what I told him that UUTS needed treatment.

So....Ricky took his brother to the local ER. The docs brought in what they call a "Crisis Stabilization Unit" and committed UUTS because he had threatened to harm himself. To quote UUTS: "I don't want to kill myself, I just wanna die". That was all it took. He spent ten days in treatment, which in my opinion wasn't nearly long enough. He's out now, not on any meds, and has been acting very, very weird. Rick and I have been trying to convince his mom to re-commit him so that he can get his addiction under control. That's were we're at right now with him. I'll be sure to update as soon as something significant happens.

Our family welcomed a new member a month or so ago...Peanut. He's a 1 year old chihauhau and has the sweetest personality. I know, I know, I've said in the past that I hate little yappy dogs, but he's not a yappy one. He loves to snuggle, he's already house trained and he has brightened all of our lives tremendously. I credit him with helping me get out of my funk because ever since he came to live with us, I've been going on daily walks with him and it makes me feel good! I hope to have a picture of him soon so you all can see what a sweet little fur baby he is.
