To keep from worrying myself to death over our financial situation, I decided that this weekend was going to be "the finish all the unfinished projects weekend". Since Rick was off, I included him too. He helped me finish painting Jake's room. I must say, it looks really nice. It's amazing how little time it took us compared to if I were doing it alone. We put the final primer coat on yesterday, and today we applied the color. I am quite pleased with the results. All I have left to do is paint the window trim, screw the outlet covers back on, vaccuum and put the furniture back and it's a done deal.
We also made a trip over to Sally's yesterday to pick up our new entertainment center. I bought it from her a few weeks ago with my yard sale earnings. $100. Not a bad deal considering the thing is made of solid wood and weighs a frikkin ton. We had to enlist the help of our very nice neighbors to get it into the house. Then it took Rick and I an hour or so to set up all of the electronic components.
I've been feeling kind of creative lately, so today I got up early and went grocery shopping. I picked up some really nice looking boneless pork chops which I cooked for dinner. I seasoned them with a squirt of olive oil, a pinch of kosher salt, some mesquite seasoning and topped them with a drizzle of honey. I served them with an Italian salad topped with a rasberry/pecan dressing, roasted pecans, bacon bits and home-grown cherry tomatoes, and, last but not least, broccoli with cheese.
Tommorrow, after I finish off Jake's room, I plan on tackling the basement. I must reorganize some of my boxes. I have quite a few that I haven't even opened since we moved here 3 years ago. I know what's in them, I just have to decide whether I want to part with the stuff or not.
So there you have it. Boring stuff I know, but it's been keeping me from going totally crazy with worry. When I'm done with all of the stuff I listed, I'll probably clean my house from top to bottom. Oh and hey, by then my lawn will need mowing too!
