I want to finish the novel I started over ten years ago. Unfortunately, I don't know where the disks are and I doubt I can find a Mac that takes floppies. But I randomly started thinking about it and I'd really like to write it. I got the idea when I saw the movie Immortal Beloved. I was always a big Beethoven fan, and the movie was based on a letter found written by Beethoven in which he refers to a woman as his "immortal beloved". The letter really was found, but no one knows who the woman was. And so I, being who I am, immediately thought, what if this woman really was immortal? So I wanted to write a novel about Beethoven's love affair with a vampire. How she struggles with taking life when she herself is cursed with immortality, and his struggle with having a gift of music yet losing his ability to hear for himself what he creates. And he makes her feel alive and she brings "music to his heart" that inspires the ninth symphony, ya know, kinda cheesy but based in the facts of his life. Then when he gets sick (they now think he may have died of lead poisoning) she leaves without telling him because she knows if she stays she will make him a vampire and she can't stand to force him into the life she considers to be a curse. So when he realizes that she's really gone he writes the letter and leaves it for her before he dies, and she comes to his room after he dies and reads the letter and she starts to take it with her because it's the only concrete thing that links them but then she realizes that over time the writing will fade, the paper will be gone, and she doesn't want to watch the only thing she has fade away so she leaves it, and that is why they found it in his room. Then I'll end the book with my poem By Moonlight as spoken by her. I think it would be an awesome novel if I did it right. So maybe someday I'll actually write it.
