I love Halloween, not merely because it is a holiday of community togetherness and chocolate, but because I love getting in costumes. Leigh is more neutral on the subject, in that she is lazy has no intrinsic desire to dress up. Luckily for me, she is willing to engage in costumed adventures when nagged encouraged.
Although for Actual Halloween we didn't do much (stuck the littlest Nahurriyeh in a giant vegetable costume and handed out Three Musketeers to about a thousand of our neighbors), I did arrange this elaborate photoshoot to celebrate.
Here was our props list:
From left to right:
- One pair men's jeans
- One long-sleeved men's button-down shirt
- One tight sports bra
- One long strip of fabric for binding*
- One pair men's briefs
- One pair sport socks**
- One grey t-shirt
- One baby blanket
- One baby***
- (cat not required)
- One wig, bob, auburn
- One blue bathrobe
*I ended up skipping the binding step, since both shirts were fairly loose, and it was only one shot. I usually prefer ace bandages, but couldn't find any.
**Again, not my preferred stuffing material (an unlubricated condom filled with hair gel, if you must ask), but what I had laying around.
***Leigh objected to his status as prop. He doesn't quite qualify as performer, though.
I think you've already guessed the final shot by now.
Happy Halloween from Amal, Leigh, and Isk Nahurriyeh. Hope yours was tons of fun.
(Bonus thanks to the visiting Grandma Nahurriyeh, who took the photo, and is holding Isk while I type this up. In any case, this is probably her fault, since she's the one who took me to my first Star Trek convention when I was 13.)
