Seven years ago right now, I had just delivered my beautiful baby boy!
Reagan James Mallicoat was born at 11:02 pm, Tuesday February 11, 2003. He weighed 6 lb 5 oz and was 19 3/4 in long.
He was due on February 14, but I was induced on the 11th due to very low fluid levels. Had there been just a tiny bit less fluid, he would have been an emergency c-section. I was so relieved that he was here and my labor went smoothly. I had an epidural that didn't work all the way until it was time to push, but then it was so amazing to be so in control while I was pushing. I used a mirror and was able to see him descending and crowning, and then with one last little push, he slid out and was placed on my belly.
Now Reagan in such a wonderful boy. He is kind and compassionate. He plays so gently with Emma, yet is rough and tumble with Abby and Eli. He is outgoing, very friendly, loves to play outside and ride his bike, play at the park, and play football with the neighbor kids, even though they are all older and bigger than he is. He is a great helper and is always willing to assist me in the kitchen. He likes to help daddy work on the cars and build things. He is doing great with his school work. He is flying through his math book and reading really well. We are working at his handwriting and he has a great imagination and likes to tell me stories to write down and then he will draw pictures that go along with the story. This year he is in gymnastics in the Tag Boys class, he joined the wrestling club in the local school district, and he is getting ready to play rookie baseball this spring.
He also took swimming lessons last summer.
God has given us such a wonderful loving, compassionate, kind, sweet, strong, patient, cuddly, adventurous little boy, who is bit by bit turning into a young man. I treasure each day that I get to spend with him and look forward to many more years teaching him and watching him learn and grow.
