Summary: Ueda’s family lives in a dangerous time, his half brother, Ryo, have evil plans and his life is in danger; will his new guardians be able to protect him?
Ueda woke up and found himself in a bed in the hotel that him and his friends were staying at, he sat up and looked confused around; he couldn’t remember how he had gotten into bed, the last thing he remembered was when he met Jin at the lake and-
Oh god!
He must have fallen asleep and Jin must have carried him home!
Ueda looked over to the side and saw that Junno weren’t in his bed, what time is it?
He looked at his watch and saw that it was almost 11, he was late!
Ueda quickly got up and got dressed and went out to the living room, nobody was there; he found a note on a table and picked it up.
Ueda, you seemed really tired so I talked to our Manager.
Don’t worry, you have the day off.
It weren’t signed by anyone, weird; Ueda shakes his head and took his jacket to go out and get some air.
It was cloudy outside, the wind blew softly in the trees and the sun was half hidden behind the mountains.
He went down the hill which lead to the forest and the palace, he knew they were suppose to do a few interviews and get their pictures taken, but luckily he could do it later on or tomorrow.
Ueda turned up the road which led to the palace, the ground turned into old squared stones which was placed neatly on the ground up to the palace and were decorating a pattern; Ueda reached the palace’s gates within a few minutes, the big metal doors were already open and he stepped inside.
The courtyard were really long and stretched out several meters wide, old wooden buildings formed the outsides of the courtyard and in the middle stood an impressive tall building, which seemed to be an entrance to the main palace.
Ueda walked on the stone-walk and opened one of the doors to the entrance building, he stepped inside and looked around; all the walls were decorated with symbols which he couldn’t understand, to his right side hung a huge paper that had old ink writing on it, it looked like a poem.
There were no furniture’s or tables of any sort, the room were lighten up by small oil lamps above him; he walked across the room and stepped into another huge room which seemed like it used to be a welcoming room for the visitors.
The hall were really long and in the end stood a tall throne, carvings made of gold was wrapped around it and made it look like it was shinning; oil lamps from above made the throne look like it was glowing, Ueda went over and touched it lightly.
Ueda, 10 years old, sat on the ground beside the throne which his dad sat one. The King’s clothes shone in red and golden colors and his hat made him look taller than he actually were, he sat on the throne and looked down at the servants, advisors and villagers in front of him.
His beard was short and black and his dark eyes scanned and observed every motion in the room, his black hair was braided back and folded up underneath his hat.
He waved his hand at one of his advisors; an elderly man stepped up and bowed before he said with a high voice, “these villagers have some questions for you, my king!”
The king looked at the small group of villagers and smiled, “please, step up and ask.”
The villagers looked nervous and shakily went up and bowed for the king, one of the men said, “My shop have been visited by ropers again, my king!”
“Yeah, they came to my shop last week; they stole almost all of my gold!” Said another man, but he didn’t lift his head.
Ueda’s father looked at the men for a while and waved his hand towards one of his writers; the writer stepped up and kneeled in front of the king.
“Please write this down, give each of these men fifty gold coins and assign twenty more guards to watch the streets.”
The writer bowed and started to write.
The villagers bowed again and even deeper, “thank you, my Lord!”
Ueda looked up at his father, he was jealous at how he could be so calm and be so friendly all the time; he never showed if he were tired and he always tried to solve all problems without fighting.
But that would never last.
Ueda moved shocked back from the throne and looked down at his hands.
What had just happened?
He quickly turned to his left and walked down a smaller hall which had doors on every side, he stopped in front of the door which led to the room where the king’s second son used to live.
He opened the door and quietly went inside, the tables and floor looked older than the rest of the palace; the guide had said that this part hadn’t burned down during the great fire.
Some of the walls had burnt spots on them and you could faintly smell the burnt wood still, Ueda went over to his right and into the bedroom.
The king sized bed stood in the middle of the room, a thin layer of dust laid on it; Ueda went over and touched the old sheets.
Ueda laid in the bed and looked up at a man, who sat at the edge of the bed; Ueda smiled and playfully clapped the man on the back.
“What?”
“Play for me, please?”
“Always for you.”
The man took out an old flute and started playing a song, the tones came out slowly and it was like the caressed Ueda’s mind; he closed his eyes and led himself be carried away by the soft tones.
He felt his body drifting into sleep, he smiled and whispered, “thank you, Jin…”
Ueda took his hand away from the bed, what was going on? Was it true that you can have flashbacks of your previous life? Or was he just so tired that he imagined things?
He quickly left the room and ran out to the courtyard, he didn’t stop, he sped up and ran through the open gates and towards the hotel.
When he came to the hotel, he stopped and tried to catch his breath again; he straighten up his clothes and went into the entrance hall, he looked at the signs above him and saw there were a music room.
Maybe there is a piano… I need to take my mind off things.
The music room was one big white room with one of the walls filled in with huge windows that had a view over the forest and hills; there were a shelf with flutes and music books and others boxes to the right of the windows; in the middle of the room, stood a big, black piano.
Ueda went over and sat down, he rested his hands on the keys and thought about what he wanted to play; suddenly the melody that he heard when he fell asleep one night, and he pressed down a key and shakes his head.
It wasn’t right; he moved upwards and pressed down a key following quickly after another; not too loud or too low, but gently and soft.
The melody sounded in his head and he automatically pressed down the keys, the music flew out of the keys and the piano and spread out into the room; Ueda closed his eyes and let himself flow into the music, letting himself become one with it.
Jin walked down the halls and heard something familiar, it sounded like the music he played with his flute!
He followed the sound which led him to a room that had a sign saying “music room”, he opened the door and the music got louder.
He quietly stepped inside and closed the door behind him, Ueda sat by the piano with closed eyes and played; Jin went over and stood beside the piano and listened, how could Ueda know that melody?
Jin drifted into the music and felt like he could stand up and sleep on the same time, suddenly the music ended; he looked up and saw Ueda had taken his hands off the keys and looked down.
“Nice music.”
Ueda jumped in his seat and looked up, “Jin! I-I didn’t hear you com!”
Jin nodded towards the piano, “did you compose that?”
Ueda looked down and smiled, “no, it suddenly came into my mind, but it’s weird; it suddenly ended, so I couldn’t finish it.”
“I’m sure you’ll be able to.”
Ueda leaned on the piano and asked, “Do you believe that when we die, we’ll be reborn again?”
“What’s with the question all of a sudden?”
Ueda scooted over so Jin could sit down beside him.
Ueda sighted, “I don’t know, weird things have started to happen. I see these weird things; it usually happens when I touch things, things in the palace, I can’t describe it. But it’s like I’ve been here before, like in another time…”
Jin didn’t really know what to say, he had felt the same thing back when they had the tour guide through the palace and they came to the second son’s room; to him, it was like he had been there before, and now he was returning there, like if he were on a mission of some sort.
“I kind of had the same feeling.”
Ueda looked up at him with wide eyes, “you did? Really?”
“Kind of, but I didn’t see anything like you did, I just had these weird feelings…”
“Oh…”
Ueda didn’t really know what to say, he realized that he was actually talking to Jin; it was kind of weird, but also nice at the same time, it was like he’d been waiting for this.
Jin realized that he were sitting beside Ueda, and actually talking about personal things with him. It was kind of weird, they never really had these friendly feelings towards each other, but they definitely didn’t hate each other. He thought it was really nice sitting with Ueda; it wasn’t as weird as he thought.
Something came up in his mind, what if his feelings from back at the palace and Ueda’s flashbacks had something in common. What if they were related? It was a crazy thought.
But what if?
Were there really something about afterlife, and having lived before this life?
Was it possible?
“Ueda?”
“Yes?”
“Do you really think, that there’s something about ‘afterlife’ and ‘having lived before’?”
“In the beginning I didn’t, but now, it’s started to make sense.”
“How?”
“The flashbacks I have, the time period was a long time ago and it happened in this palace, our names are the same and-”
“Hold on! our names?”
“Y-Yeah, I saw your name in one of the flashbacks.”
“That’s weird.”
Jin looked down at his watch and stood up, “it’s almost time for lunch, the others will be worried if I don’t show up, and do you want to come?”
“Sure, I’m starving!”
They left the music room and went to find the others.
**********
Jin tossed himself around in his bed, in his sleep; he was sweating and gasping for air, he whimpered and reached out for something that wasn’t there.
Kame laid in the bed beside and was watching him, he didn’t interfere.
Jin whispered, “U-Ueda…! S-Stop! Y-You’re h-hurting him!”
Kame felt his heart tightened in his chest, for the first time since his debut with KAT-TUN, he felt jealous.
Why was he crying out for Ueda?
I thought they hated each other.
Kame felt angry at Jin and turned around so his back were to Jin, Jin was a grown up, he could manage to wake up by himself. Kame sighted and tried to fall asleep.
In Jin’s dream, he stood in an old torture chamber and was watching from the side; in front of him hung Ueda by chains from the roof and was whipped by a man that he couldn’t see.
“AARRRGHHH!!!”
Jin heard Ueda’s cry of agony and pain, he wanted to do something, he truly would; but when he tried to touch Ueda, he felt right through, he were transparent.
The scene changed, they were still in the same room but this time the man who had whipped Ueda was now holding a knife in his hand.
Jin could barely hear Ueda’s whimper, “P-Please…n-no…”
The man with the knife laughed, “Sorry, I can’t hear you!”
He pushed the knife deep into Ueda so blood oozed out, Ueda screamed out in pain and yelled for the man to stop; but he kept moving the knife inside Ueda’s injury and laugh like a maniac.
Outside the chamber were heard some loud voices and the door was kicked in.
Jin yelled out in surprise and saw himself in the door way, technically it wasn’t him, but he could recognize himself (of course) anywhere; he looked the same except he wore some weird clothes and his hair were longer.
“UEDA!” The Jin in the door ran over and quickly untied the chains that held Ueda up.
Ueda collapsed in his arms and were barely looking alive, “Hold on! Don’t leave me!”
Ueda looked up with tears in his eyes, he moved his hand up to touch Jin’s face but he fainted and his hand fell to the cold ground.
“Ueda! Stay with me! Don’t leave me!”
Jin’s other self cried and held Ueda’s body close to him.
The real Jin looked at the scene and found that he was crying.
Was this like the flashbacks that Ueda had been talking about?
Jin wanted to bad to touch Ueda’s pale face and see if he were still alive, he wanted to make sure that Ueda was going to be okay.
The man that had stabbed Ueda called out, “Guards! Get my prisoners upstairs!”
Six guards came in and lifted the other Jin to his feet, he was still holding Ueda’s body.
He tried to struggle but the guards were too strong and too many, he was led out of the chamber and the door closed behind them.
Now, the real Jin stood alone in the chamber with the man that had stabbed Ueda.
The man smiled, he took his shirt and dried off the blood from his knife; the man looked up and Jin froze in fear, the man was looking directly at him and was smiling like a crazy person.
Jin pointed at him with shaking fingers, “you!”
“Hello Jin.”
“Ryo!”
Jin sat up in his bed and looked around, it was still dark outside so he hadn’t been sleeping for a long time; he felt uncomfortable and noticed that his heart was beating really fast and he was shaking and sweating.
He felt something wet on his face and noticed that he was crying.
What is going on? Was that a flashback? Did that really happen to Ueda?
What is Ryo doing in my dream?
