Ok, so thank goodness! I think i'm slowly but FINALLY coming up with a housing solution. This has been a great source of stress this week, on top of midterms, practicing and sickness. Soo...I think I'm going to live with Izumi and Shane in an apartment OFF campus. BUT get a 12-meal weekly plan at the cafeteria (which includes $100 dollars a quarter), because I know there will be very little time for cooking. And I'll bring my car, so that I can drive to campus at night and not get mugged, but also to not have to worry about parking garage fees. Wohoo! I'm so glad this is finally getting worked out!! No one here stays in dorms sophomore year, which is sort of a shame, but understandable. It would cost about $6,000 for a single dorm room next year, versus about a $300-$400 monthly rent for an apartment, (or about $3000 rent per year).
Now just a few questions remain. Like, will it be convenient to walk to my daily 8am classes next year from an off campus apartment, (10 minute walk), can I start teaching next year since I'll have my car, can I stand to live with Shane and Izumi (oboe and flute player who are sophomores now), and how much money will I really ultimately save. I also wonder how much time would be devoted for taking care of myself in general. Time that could be otherwise spent on practicing/studying/having fun. Hmmmmm...
Sorry, I just needed somewhere to write these thoughts down so I can go over them later and come to a conclusion. Any advice would be appreciated!!!
