I: Monarchy

"So, we've got fresh meat."

Veronica shifted in her seat to look over her shoulder. A boy with dark hair was walking with a girl with long blonde hair. The girl seemed to be the dominant one, walking proudly even as the boy fell in line behind her. Veronica raised an interested eyebrow and let her lips pull into a smirk.

"Excellent," she cooed even as she brushed back her short blonde hair and reached for her lip gloss.

"Easy there, Ronnie. Don't dig into them just yet, let them take their first breath," Logan said, leaning against the table next to her.

Veronica rolled her eyes. "Call me 'Ronnie' again and you won't be able to put on pants for a week."

"Haha," Logan replied dryly. "Duncan's in my English class and he seems okay."

"And the girl?"

"His sister, Lilly. She's in your grade."

"So, does Neptune's reigning Terrible Twins have a little competition?" Dick Casablancas asked from across the table.

"We're not twins, dumbass," Logan drawled while Veronica shot Dick a death glare.

"And there's no competition," she added, her voice carrying syrupy venom as Logan waived the other two over.

"Now, be nice Veronica," he said in a warning tone.

"Please, little brother," Veronica responded, batting her eyelashes at him before letting her eyes fall on the pair walking towards them. "I'm always nice."

II: Storm

It was somber day, the first rain of October.

Seemed appropriate somehow. The mourners scattered as umbrellas opened and cars started to leave the cementery, heading towards the house for the quiet dinner later.

But five figures lingered behind.

The grieving father, after tearfully saying his last mumbled goodbye, was finally lead away by his wife and into their car.

The rain poured down even harder as the other three stayed.

The cries of the inconsolable best friend had calmed to quiet sobs as her blonde hair became matted down by the rain, but she didn't care. Her best friend had been ripped from her life, and just like that her own life was gone, changed forever.

The boyfriend knelt down beside her, doing his best to hide his own tears, grateful that the rain would hide them. His breath hitched and he knelt down on the ground beside the other girl. He reached out to her, gripping her hand tightly.

The water was quickly absorbed by the fresh dirt of the grave of the young girl who just shouldn't be there. The flowers were becoming soggy , the potent smell of the lilies filling the air heavily, and already the memories of what they all used to be threatened to wash away.

The other boy leaned over, carefully running his fingers over the engraved name on the cold, hard gravestone. It just...wasn't fair.

He joined the other two on the ground and pulled out a flask and as they tossed back the burning alcohol inside, they swore to never let the memory of Veronica Mars die.

III: Romeo

"Duncan, what happened?" Veronica asked, more forcefully this time, even as her stomach twisted in a tight knot. "Where's Lilly?"

At this Duncan's face seemed to contort in a strange way, as if he wasn't sure what emotion to show and Veronica couldn't bear to see him like that. She saw a deputy going in the direction of the pool, so she decided to follow him.

The smell of the chlorine hit her nose first, followed by a coppery smell that she couldn't yet identify.

And then she froze in her tracks.

The glare from the pool was strong and mostly blinded her to her best friend's face and crushed skull, lying in her pep squad uniform and bleeding all over the concrete. But the same pool light allowed her to see perfectly the sightless eyes of the other body lying not too far away.

Logan's blood soaked a small dark puddle in the grass he was lying on, not three feet from where Lilly had hit the ground. His mouth was slightly open and his eyes were staring straight into the night sky, even as Lilly's dead gaze laid on him.

Veronica was vaguely aware of her knees buckling and being caught in her father's arms as she stared at her two friends, bonded together forever in death.

IV: Sweet

"Common, Veronica, help me out. Lilly's birthday is tomorrow."

"And you're asking for my help now? Way to think ahead there, Echolls."

"Ronnie…please."

"And using that nickname is gonna get you absolutely nowhere. Don't even try to sweet talk me, Logan."

"I don't need sweet talk, baby."

"Ugh. Okay, that's it. Get out."

"No, no, seriously Veronica. You're the only one who can help me."

"Yeah, now that's a lie."

"Okay, you're the only one I want helping me, because you're the best."

"Aww...see, there's the groveling and praise I was waiting for. That might get you somewhere. Continue."

"Please, V? There's no one that I would ask for a favor like this. It's Lilly's eighteenth birthday and what better way to celebrate it than baking her a rum cake?"

"I'm sure that rum will be an understatement."

"Well? Whaddaya say, Veronica? Can you help this helpless boyfriend give your best friend a hellofva home made treat?"

"Alright...but what's in it for me?"

"See? I knew you'd come around."

V: Hero

"You know what, Dad, I'll go with you."

"No way, dude! You already blew us off in the water!"

Logan glared at Dick. "Yeah, dude, and now I'm kicking you out of my house. I've actually got things to do today, alright?"

"Like what? Sit on the couch?" Dick retorted.

"You know what, right now, I'm tired of your shit, man. Just go," Logan snapped.

Dick stood up suddenly, anger flashing in his eyes, but Aaron stepped in. "Logan, go meet me in the car," he said softly and never before had Logan ever considered his father his hero.

As Logan walked away, he heard Aaron tell Dick something about dealing with Lynn's death and to just leave for right now. Logan headed past the kitchen, where Veronica was leaning heavily against the white wall.

She looked up at him, not saying a word. She didn't have to. Her wide blue eyes spoke for themselves and Logan just smiled sheepishly at her. He leaned in and kissed her forehead lightly. She laughed a bit at this and responded with a light kiss on his lips.

Aaron came around the corner just then, holding Veronica's bag in his hands. He handed it to her and she gave him her thanks. He patted Logan on the shoulder.

"You kids have fun," he said even as he walked away.

"Hey, Dad?" Logan stopped him. "Ugh…thanks."

Aaron just smiled and walked off.

A/Ns:
I:Monarchy
I've always been intrigued by the idea of Logan and Veronica being brother and sister. Sometimes their banter reminds me of feuding siblings. Just in case you're curious, Keith is married to Lynn in that particular universe. She's an actress, he's the sheriff. Everything is happy. ^_^

II: Storm
Yeah, I seriously wonder what would have happened had Veronica been the one to die. I think a few writers have played with the idea before, and this is just my take on the beginning.

III: Romeo
Yes, as in Romeo and Juliet. I just think about that scene with Ms. James when she tells Logan that, had he been with Lilly that day, he might have died too. I'm thinking it'd be nice if someone expanded on that.

IV: Sweet
Just dialogue. Veronica and Logan most times don't even need description. That was just pure fluff to take away from the previous supa!angst.

V: Hero
I think there's always a point where a kid considers their father their hero. And this scene in the show is where I would have liked for Logan to stand up for Veronica to his friends. Or at least gotten rid of them and I think that Aaron played an important part there.

Feh.

Please review!! It seriously keeps my writing.
cheers.
