Hey everyone! I haven't updated in awhile, so I figured I would. Things are going really well at the moment--first and most importantly (perhaps), I got a job! Hooray! I am now officially a server at IHOP. I've wanted to be a waitress for some unknown reason for a very long time, and my dream has finally been fulfilled. And oh my God, you guys, it is SO MUCH FUN! I'm seriously having way too good of a time--yesterday I stayed an extra hour and a half because I just didn't want to leave, and as a result I stayed up horribly late doing my Anthropology reading. Good times. My trainer's name is Jenny, and she's the nicest person ever. She's so patient and helpful and encouraging and never yells at me for screwing things up. All the other waitresses are awesome as well. I only started actually waiting tables yesterday, and I got my first tip ($4.00 woohooooo!!!).
Funny story...so last night some dude ordered a BLT (thank God he wasn't in my section) and when the girl brought it to him, he revealed that he did not know that the sandwich contained bacon, lettuce, and tomatoes and therefore he didn't want it anymore. Um. Yeah. First of all, who the hell doesn't know what a BLT is? And even if you didn't, there's a handy description of the item right under its name, along with a GIANT PICTURE. I have a feeling I'm going to have many more of these stories as time goes on...I definitely lucked out with this job. I knew waitressing was my calling in life.
In other news, classes have started--not really much else to say there. Stats is going to be easy because I've already had it, and Anthropology is going to be okay as well, I think. It's relatively interesting and the teacher is nice. Moving on...today I had my post-Study Abroad Arabic Oral Proficiency Interview, and I totally KICKED ASS. I'm seriously. I only had to ask him to repeat a question ONCE, and he asked me a lot of questions. I had to describe the last book I read (which was The Five People You Meet in Heaven), and I was all, "The book's main idea is that all of life's events are part of one larger process and we always have to think about the consequences of our actions and how they influence the lives of others." That's right, bitches. Things got a bit iffy when I was trying to explain how the United States is hypocritical when it comes to promoting democracy abroad, but I think I got my point across.
So, life in general is okay right now. I'm ridiculously busy with my job and two classes and everything else, but I think a fairly large part of that is all the appointments I keep having to go to (doctor, eye doctor, etc.) Once they're all over and Carle stops sending me to all these various specialists, things should slow down a bit. Anyhow, I have to go do some reading before I go over to Liz's to finish watching Ghost Rider. Then from 7-11 tonight I get to work! Yeeha! Let the tips start rolling in!
Also, go see Ocean's 13 if you haven't already. It's way better than the last one.
