THE NEJIHINA DOUJINSHI HAS LANDED
The first wave of my Naruto doujinshi spree has arrived, so I scanned a small bit to share with everyone. XD
This one is from "Kimi no Tonari" ("Next to You") which is mostly a comedy doujinshi with a little bit of seriousness: it's very cute and quite funny, with the added bonus that I could actually read most of the first short without needing to look up kanji every three seconds. The part I scanned (Ah! Hinata-sama) is a three-page short with Lee being his usual adorkable self over Sakura, and Neji...well, Neji doesn't think much of romance, surprise, surprise. :D
The second doujinshi, Nemuru Mayu (Sleeping Cocoon) has absolutely gorgeous artwork (and as soon as I can find a way to scan the front insert page with breaking the spine, I will, because it's just breathtaking) but the actual story itself I don't like that much. It's centered on the Hyuuga, but in some weird non-Naruto AU setting that might involve ninja and might not, and I just can't tell what's going on (it might become clearer once I translate it, but...it's NejiHina, but it's not Naruto NejiHina, if you get what I mean): another mark against it is that the actual Naruto-related short following the main story has the first instance of Evil! Hanabi I've ever seen in the Japanese fandom (Japanese fandom, in direct contrast to the English fandom from what I've seen, tends to portray Hanabi as aggressively possessive and protective of Hinata) and I can't stand Evil! Hanabi. It's a shame because the artwork is so beautiful, but the story really isn't grabbing me.
Once I get some free time, I'll try and scan & translate the main story for "Kimi no Tonari" (because it has childhood flashback Neji and Hinata!) but this is good for now. I apologize for the blur at the edges, but I really didn't want to break the spine--despite being four years old, this doujinshi was pristine in packaging--and the images are a little large, so those with slow connections be warned.
