Narration: A letter from Zero. Rebirth to Reborn: Zero's Mail.

(Maria begins reading the letter, Zero's voice gradually takes over)
My beloved Maria,
Are you smiling now? Are you spending your days safe and sound? Even now, in the midst of this, I can feel that smile of yours clearly. You must be surprised to have received this letter. I guess you're confused. I myself am confused over what explanation I should give. I wonder how many days have passed since that day I was locked away in darkness? But now I have regained everything. Now I must inform you of a terrible thing. What has become of my body, and what is to come from now on. I am not yet dead, for there is something I must do. I must save Ryuuichi.

My name is Ryuuichi Asakura. I am Japanese. While I was in Germany as an exchange student in order to study robotic engineering I became entangled in the war, and was invited to join the technological research staff of a German corporation known during the war as the world number one in robotics. Then, when the war ended, I was detained by Allied forces and subjected to an investigation spanning a year. I was acquitted, and absolved of wartime responsibility. But the weight on my chest has not been lifted by the year long investigation. The reason is, that was not investigated at all.
I became involved with that project at that corporation. That project was a top secret matter that was known of by a mere few even in the military, and the records and facilities were purged completely before the end of the war. Therefore, the name of this project did not come up during the investigation. Even now the war is over, not a word of it has been told in the face of history... but it certainly existed.
It was a top secret project developed by military authorities and that corporation. The project, codenamed "ЯR", was a foolish deed that trespassed into the domain of God.
