Writing Meme, Feel Free to Steal

How about a brief introduction for yourself?

Amai, hello^^

Fabulous! And what got you into fanfiction to begin with?

Oh! I guess it's the same with everyone. It's the subtext and what I saw between the lines. Say, if in Naruto anime I saw "something unsaid" in Sasuke and Itachi's relationship I wrote it down, all my naughty thoughts in written form on a sheet of paper. Pretty much this way

I see, so what kind of fanfiction do you like to write?

Slash/yaoi. Don't even remember writing het. Hmm, who needs it, it's blah. All this boy-on-boy stuff is fine with me, so I write in this genre. I used to start with 4-5 lines' oneshots, which were actually not stories, rather sketches (now that I think about those novellas I recall recent lj-scribe challenge about undertaker), then pieces of writing grew on and on until finally, I guess I was 15 then or younger, I made it to what I called a novel. It's still unfinished, though, and I don't mean to continue with it since it's so stupid ;) OK, now I've stopped writing oneshots, having a couple of miltichaptered projects as a priority

Do you find writing easy? Hard? What are the most difficult aspects of writing you struggle with?

To start with, English is my not native language, so did I answer your question? lol
Of course, it's hard for me to write in it, especially when I don't know how to express an idea or a phraseological unit. And still, despite all hardships I face, nothing is as enjoyable and relaxing and absorbing (oh yes, that's the word!) as writing. It requires patience and concentration to boost the process but once I start I don't want to stop. The problem is I HAVE TO. With lack of time I have to reduce time devoted to writing, and tremendously. This is by far the most horrible thing I could imagine, I've never thought I'd suffer so much, because I MISS it like hell! 2 free hours a day I have at my disposal are never enough to write at least a tiniest story (writers, you understand me). I used to write at night, but figured out it's not a good option. Lack of free time is what I struggle with

Write a few sentences or so of your favorite pairing or character.

"He fixes the unmoving gaze at somebody who's avoiding it, and it hurts and irritates him. Such a glossy man with perfect looks is emotionally drained, and at a loss, and has no clue how to work it out, so deeply in a mess of his own wrong doings. The figure he is observing feels troubled too. In the same knee-length coat and a hat in his hand he is quiet and distant and cold, and all the more attractive; his profile reveals mild, almost feminine features, accentuated only just slightly with artificial colors, his blond hair and ever-present pout, high cheekbones and sharp chin - the image stands brightly in front of Adam as he studies it intently, yet missing the ability to touch, regretfully. He is beginning to lose it." - an excerpt from the first chapter of my fanfic 'Look on the Dark Side'

Are there any fanfiction clichés or trends you're sick of or just can't stand?

I hate boyxgirl pairings. I dunno what made me hate het in the first place, but still. This must be the reason why I don't watch shoujo anime or anime with lots of females. The same with real life characters, I've never been into girl bands, always preferring boy bands. For that reason, I don't read fanfiction featuring het pairings, esp. bad-written shorty-short oneshot PWPs, I quit all but immediately

Are you guilty of any fanfiction clichés you hate? Or any other ones?

Not guilty... unsure. I'm unsure and curious at the same time, wondering why I'm a Sakura basher, for instance. Why I dislike heterosexual relationship and females in fanfiction.

What was the first fandom you wrote for, and do you still like/participate in it?

Oh... AFAIR, Savage Garden. It's a more or less sane writing, all that I'd written before it is either torn apart and thrown into a carry-rubbish-down or forgotten. I have the "novel" unfinished and it will probably never be. But never say never, so who knows...

Name your OTPs or most frequently written pairings/characters and explain what it is about them that you love to write.

That'd be Takahashi RyousukexFujiwara Takumi, also Takashicest (more into reading it than writing) and Uchiha ItachixDeidara. These are my favorites, so it explains why I focus on them. They are most attractive and many-sided characters, so it can't be more pleasure writing anything these-guys-centric ;)

What would you call your writing "style"?

A good writer develops and polishes his style throughout his whole career, so I still can't say I've come up with something stable and firm and something I'll never alter. I don't stick to something particular, and I know that over the years my way of writing has changed, this is one of the reasons why I don't dare return to my previous unfinished stories and complete them - it's because the manner of writing was different, and I can't go on in it. One thing I know for sure is that I adore cliff hangers, when each chapter leaves you with a 'WTH?! What happened next? I need to know it straightaway!' feeling. It's not easy to write such endings, btw

Do you read other people’s fanfic? If so, what do you find yourself reading the most?

I do, but try not to do it. It influences my writing, which I don't want to happen. Anyway, I know that no matter how good the fanfic is it'll never EVER match my favorite author's epic stories

Name one thing you'd LOVE to write, but have been too afraid or shy to do.

Hmm, nothing specific. I just want to carry on with all my once-begun-and-not-yet-completed stories. I'd LOVE and be immensely satisfied (and self-proud) to have time to finish at least one

Do you have trouble taking criticism? Or worse yet, do you have the dreaded bloated ego?

Yes. Not many people understand what I write but not that I recall being severely bashed (when I used to write in my native language and read excerpts to my parents, they didn't believe it was ME who wrote it, they found it too good to be written by me - it was the greatest let-down I've ever experienced in life, and it partially made me abandon writing in Russian)

When you write, is there anything that helps? Music? Quiet room?

Music can be a great inspiration source but not that I use it while writing. A quiet room - definitely! I like writing at night. My almost-necessary attribute is a big green apple. I like chewing apple and write. Maybe chewing process helps to form thoughts ;) Mm, also.. an important thing is the note-book/note-pad and pen, I use only good-quality stationary, often expensive on the verge of costing outrageous sums, so that mom blows a casket whenever she sees me buy stuff for writing. Always!

What inspires you?

Music, books, scenes from movies. Not that everyday life is of any inspiration anymore, it's become routine

Lastly, how would you sum up your fan fiction experiences and yourself as a writer?

The question is too abstract to answer simply. As mentioned above, writing is my life-savior. From mere from-time-to-time hobby it's grown into a necessity, it's like another ethereal world I dip into and forget about problems. It could become an addiction, no doubt. I would've never imagined it'd turn out this serious and important for me.
