Apparently I am not a book finisher. Here's where they stand and in the order that I'll probably finish them:
Letter to a Christian Nation - Basically as the title suggests the book is read as a letter addressed to a Christian asking or debunking Christianity as the one true religion. It's a really short read (really short) and so far I don't really think it's very good. Sam Roberts isn't very convincing and isn't really saying anything that I haven't already heard before. At least it's really short.
The Omnivore's Dilemma - I started reading this in March or April last year then let G borrow it for a trip, then let him finish reading it and sort of forgot to pick it back up to read the last 100 pages. This book traces the path of 4 meals ranging from a McDonalds value meal to one that was completely foraged/hunted. It really makes you think about what you're eating and raises your conciseness levels rather than trying to stuff vegan idealism down your throat (hah, down your throat, get it. oye). I'd recommend it and I'm not even done yet.
The Mythical Man Month - My old friend Joe ("Dr. Joe" now) from MIT said this was a good read so I went out and bought it. I have since realized that only someone from MIT or a hardcore geek could truly enjoy a series of 1970's essays regarding software development most of which continue to be applicable today. I am not a hardcore geek. I am a softcore geek and to me this one has been a bit of a snooze fest. This is why as a softcore geek I've replaced the entire idea of reading this book with Joe Spolsky's "Best Software Writing I" which despite it's boring title is an interesting read. I've already read two chapters of and it's as enjoyable as a book on software writing can be.
The Selfish Gene - I'm about halfway though it and for some reason I stopped reading it, probably when my mind sort of phased out when reading about evolutionary stable systems or something. I think Dawkin's really is more of a hoot to listen to than he is to read or maybe I just like British accents.
After I finish these books it just occurred to me that I might want to read something more entertaining rather than pseudo-educational. If you have a book suggestion, please, leave it at the beep.
