MPREG occurs because the yaoi purist is in denial.

Here's for small, pointless epiphanies.

MPREG.

For me, it's something I try to avoid--unless it's by an actual good author, then I'll tragically bite and wonder why I did that to myself, again, hours later.

Still, I think I've come up with the perfect reason why I consider it so, well, troubling. I've read yaoi--only if it's attached to good writing. Two males fucking for the sake of simply fucking does no justice to either characters--unless, of course, that is part of their personalities, then by all means, please continue.

MPREG is something entirely different. It's like the author needs that ending to a story, and what better way than with a kid. But, oh, wait, adding a female this far in the story just won't work. Or, the author has a dislike for female characters, or something similar. I could blame the fact that most yaoi authors that I've encountered are female and so birth has some form of conclusionary feel to the story.

In short, there's this need to end it on a more romantic note with all the traits of a heterosexual pairing, without, well the heterosexuals. There's something missing or not addressed in the author's mind. Personally, I call it someone being in denial. You may call it what you want. Entertainment. Shock value. Free speech. It may be these things.

You could disagree with my basic assessment. I'm no expert. It just seems to make sense at the moment.

Regardless, it's food for thought on this fine Saturday evening when all is rather dead here on LJ. ^_^

sex, gendercide, fandom, stupid bitches on the internet, yaoi, everyday is a someday, feeding the inner geek, random, writing
