another crumbling arches show, in the pot. they were one of approximately 5 bands playing this evening. the band before ca was a pain to the ear. ca themselves, of course, were riotous fun, though i didnt feel well at the beginning. they had time to play only five or six songs because of the 12 billion bands after them. mr. mckelvey's guitar was a bit of a pickle during "the preachings of priamides", but regained full power for "phantom." the crowd was relativeley lame, which i probably have no right to condemn them for considering i didnt dance for most of thier show. towards the end, brian grady started a dance conga to infiltrate the stagnant bunch. me carolyn and carolyns friend (sorry!) ended up in a cluster together getting gawked at. right, how silly of us for dancing to the music!
the usual gang was there to shake things up. john and victoria bailed early, but were replaced by....(drum roll)....simon cross and a friend (there to see paramore)! brandston was next and took their time getting on. i felt kind of stupid cause the whole time i was the obnoxious "this band is really good, i promise" kid, and they played their most boring song first. pthb! when "nobody dances anymore" came on, i felt rejuvinated, and brian grady and i again infiltrated the solemn crowd. brian walked away at one point, and i was left dancing alone. i felt like the person everyone else feels embarassed for, but danced anyway. during the next song ian hennessee came into the crowd to dance with me.
as i was walking out, several people said they liked brandston. damn straight. i left kind of early cause my car was parked in a rather questionable lot and i was walking back alone. but my mad skills and intimidating presence fended off all potential assailants.
