Deus Sol Invictus
The longest night has passed and the days will grow longer, giving those who walk in the light more time to bask in the sun's warmth.
In a few days, people will celebrate Dies Natalis Solis Invicti or Christmas or Yule or any number of other names. Some will celebrate with faith and open hearts. Some will celebrate from habit or even cupidity.
Most will truly be celebrating the return of the light. The days will not grow shorter and shorter until there is no life.
My season wanes with the longest night, but I long for the warmth of home. The Night Island does not see cold such as this.
