Two more great... or at least catchy... songs. Two more awesome videos. Not as awesome as the Drive My Soul video, but I don't think *anything* is going to top Egyptian Spaceman.
I like the song because the ditty it opens with me reminds me of touchtones on a cell phone, and I immdediately pictured a boy sending this song as a text message to a girl. I relate to that.
The video... works. It does. It's not what I pictured hearing this song (but I also thought it was Ne-yo or... oh blast, who is it that these kids are listening to today... Usher? Anyway, the fact that it's Jesse McCartney surprised me. But like I said, I pictured this song being text messages sent back and forth between a love triangle at a swanky hollywood A-list night club.
But what I *love* about this video is that, given actors and equipment, I could remake this video shot for shot in about three and a half hours. With the zooms & the blurs, the jump cuts & the awkward angles, and the fact that the only reason you watch the whole thing is because the girl is in her underware, this is either the most professional amature video I've ever seen, or it's the most amature professional video I've ever seen. He took the shittiest shots from his B-reel and tied them all together to the beat of the music into something that really, really works.
This gives me hope for myself.
I love the mocking tone of this song. I'm definately the kind of ex who throw such taunts. And the white trash intro, driving the tractor the liquor store, compliments the imaturity of the additude wonderfuly.
And the justaposition of "Tonight I'm alright, I'm just fine," with Pink doing the Thriller dance naked on the red carpet. Love it!
And then she catches her hair on fire. I love how in the song she's invincable, but in the video she's a wreck.
I too walk around like I'm a Rockstar, and immediately trip on my life and make an ass of myself.
So What?
