Black Mamba in da hood

Kobe is the man!

It was exciting to be able to see Kobe Bryant in person at the Indoor Stadium the other day. Frankly, I'm not a huge basketball or Kobe fan but I did want to see the great man who recently won the MVP of the year award and well, I do think he is kinda cute :)

So I saw de man - I think he IS cuter in person :P And I was just amazed on how inspiring he is! My favorite moment was when he gave the little girl a side of his autographed shoe and the other to another boy. He also did know how to please the crowd by flashing his brillant smile whenever he stood up and walked around the court and crowds of people will rush to the front to snap a photo of him and he would oblige by flashing a smile and wave.

Actually I think that most would have read about him in the news so I won't write further except that we almost caught an autographed basketball when he was throwing them out to the crowd! My fingers grazed the ball when it fell but the guy in front of me was too aggressive and he grabbed and hugged it tight. My other co worker who had the ball in his arms for a split second was even closer but he too lost the fight! Sigh. B.T was trying to so hard grab a ball but we didn't in the end. It was great fun though.

I think sports athletes are inspiring because sports isn't easy. To be right on top, you need to have talent and skills and above all, have an iron will of determination, strength and be able to bear the pain of all the training that you have to endure through. There is so much to learn when you engage in a sport and achieve your own personal goals. The same way that I look up to certain running athletes, I could totally understand how all the basketball fans went completely crazy over Kobe. And I hope that some day I will be able to meet mine. It's a pity though, if I do, I won't be able to take a photo with them or get an autograph because they all happen to be Nike athletes.
