90 minutes in our playground

We deliberately choose to run in the heat because we figured out that if we train in tough conditions now, it will be easier on race day :)

I almost didn't want to get out of bed this morning especially when the sun was shining strong. But we did, ate some chocolates and drank water. We carried water with us because it was going to be rather long and hot. I have to say, the run went better than expected.

On the 38th minute, my legs still felt okay. An hour into the run, I started to feel stronger and I ran a bit faster and my heart rate started to drop - which was good. I kept in my training zone for the entire 90 minutes and burned over 700 calories. Wasn't starving when I reached home although B.T was :P

We have completed a month of the training. Thanks to the Racers Toolbox guys, it's proceeding great :) This week was the longest as we clocked in 270 minutes of running! It'll be tougher next week -_- Don't ask me how far I have run because that isn't a criteria on my program, I just know that it's quite a fair bit.

On a related note, I am happy to have B.T as my training partner. When I decided to sign up for a marathon, I asked if he would do one with me. He did I guess to support me. But he has been so dilligent in his training, I am so proud of him. I think he is at his fittest right now :P Perhaps V is right, he is more sports motivated and oriented being with me :P

On the days that we run together, we do a route. I call it our playground. We do loops and pass each other on the way. For the 90 minutes, it was really helpful because we would high five each other as we ran past and he would remind me to hydrate and check if I was alright. And sometimes I find him looking backwards to check if I'm running okay, and I feel comforted knowing that he is running close by to me and we are in this together. So I am glad I got him hooked onto running :P

Finally, this 90 minutes was my longest run since at least a year ago! So I am pretty stoked that it went well. Also, the first time that I ran this long without music :) So whatever it is, I will not be dependant on it and come race day, it will be a boost in motivation and morale for me at the end.
