So, I'll start off at the beginning of my travels, as some of you had little or no idea that I was coming home. Here's the rundown, as I've got lots of time sitting here in the crappy Atlanta airport while I wait for my next flight. Stupid Air Tran.
So, I had decided awhile ago that I was coming home for Megan's birthday. I had decided kind of late, but I did it. I talked to my LPO about why I was coming home, and him, along with everyone else that knew why I was coming home, thought I was insane, but hey..it was my choice. So, they got my leave chit rushed through, and I got my plane ticket and bought the car from my grandpa. Everything was set, and I left early Friday morning to come home.
I got home around 1030 and Jerm picked me up from the airport. He dropped me off at Grandpa's and then headed to school. Grandpa and I ran to the house to get my checkbook, and then headed to the DMV to get the title transfered over for the Plymouth. I took the car home after that, and sat around hanging out with Ben a little bit. After awhile I talked to Monica again and found out it was going to be awhile longer then I had thought before she got out of work, so I decided to stop and see Megs at work at around 4:45. She was definately suprised and had no clue that I was coming home. So I got my haircut and then we went back to her house and talked to her parents for a few, and then eventually headed out to Monica's. We got her and decided to go to Olive Garden for dinner eventually. Went to dinner, and then took Nica home and sat and talked to Megs for awhile.
The weekend was pretty much spent with Megan and Monica the whole time. Sunday morning I went to church and while I was there I talked to her parents about a plan I had for Monday, the day before Megan's birthday. I wanted to take her and her parents and Monica out to dinner that night, because Megs had to work on her birthday. So, in the short amount of time I had ( seconds ) I went and told them that I would stop by again on Monday to give them some details. Well, I had Monica go and make "plans" with Megs a couple weeks before so she thought that she had something already planned out. They were going to go to some club. That was all a ruse of course, as the only reason that she even did that was so that Megan didn't make other plans. So far everything was going well.
Monday Megs had to work, but she was taking someone else's hours and only had to work until 3. She was also the only person there that morning, so I came up and spent sometime with her at work. Part ways through the day I left to see if her parents were home, but they had gone out for the day. So I headed back to her work where I was talking to Monica, and things weren't looking good with her either, so I decided that instead of letting Megs get all suspicious as to what was going on, I'd tell her about dinner. So I told her, and that she should wear something nice. I took her home, and then talked to Nica again. Eventually, I went and got Nica and she changed clothes and then we met Megs and her parents at Jax Cafe. They got there before us and saw the menu and everything. They had the little matchbooks done up too that said "Happy Birthday Megan" so that was cool. We ate dinner, and then I took Monica and Megs home. Dropped Monica off at the park and ride where I had picked her up and then Megs and I went back to my place.
We got back around 9:15ish I think, and went downstairs, where it was really cold. Dad started a fire for us, planned of course. Mom had cleaned up a bit while I was gone like I had begged ( Thanks again Mom ) so everything looked really nice and there were candles and everything. We watched Toy Story 2, our first date movie, and then I went and lit the candles and killed the lights. I put on a CD I had made of some of our songs and songs that had meaning. We slow danced for awhile and just spent sometime sitting in front of the fire. I went and got part of her birthday present, a vase of flowers that had some of her favorites in them ( Lilly of the Valley ). She was quite suprised to see that. Then we danced and talked some more and at midnight I went and stood her up. I told her that I didn't want her to be my girlfriend, and that I wanted her to be my fiance. I got down on one knee and proposed at midnight on her 21st birthday and she said yes. We toasted with some champagne, her first drink ever, and then talked about things for awhile. I explained how I had asked her parents on Monday afternoon and that's why I had looked kind of sick when I picked her up from work and why I was late. Since then things have been great. We've been talking about wedding details and quite honestly, I haven't been so happy.
I have to admit that I'm fairly exhausted, but it's from good stress for once, not bad. I've spent nearly all my time all week long with her or my family or Monica, but it's been so worth it. For right now, it's looking like a summer 2007 wedding, not to interfere with Heather and Tyler's or anyone else's for that matter. I'll keep you all informed as more details emerge.
I think though that I'm done writing in here. I have to go and update the Myspace too. Take care everyone, and thanks for all the congrats from those that have sent them. I'll try to update this more often, though I always say that. I'm stuck in Atlanta right now, do to a poor connection flight and will be stuck here in the airport until 8am when my next flight leaves for Newport News. Goodnight, and God Bless.
