Mad Hatter Tea!

Sep 13, 2006 12:37

You are all invited to my Mad Hatter Tea Party!  I have mailed or handed invitations to most of you (and if you didn't get one you're still invited as long as you let me know you're coming).  For more information click on the link below.

Time:   Saturday, Oct. 7th         1:00pm to 5:00pm

Location:  My house.  If the weather is nice it will be outside.  If the weather is not nice we will stuff ourselves into my apartment and it will be fun, dammit!  I am sending directions with most of the invitations.  If you still need directions please email or call and I will be happy to direct you.

Dress:  This is a fancy tea party.  You should dress up.  I don't really care what time period you go for (I'm all about Victorian morning dress meets 1930's gangsta suit).  Just make sure you wear a hat.  If you really want, you can dress up like a character from Alice in Wonderland (since a few people have expressed interest in doing so).  I will never deny you the opportunity to dress up in funny clothes.  So have fun.

Please Bring:  A hat, a teacup, and a chair.  I do not have many chairs, so you should definitely bring your own if you want to sit to drink your tea.  I will have a few extras if you absolutely can't find one.  I will have plenty of extra tea cups, so if you don't have one or want to use a different one, that's perfectly fine.

I have lots of extra hats.  If you don't have a hat or just want to switch when you get here I'll gladly lend you one.  Just keep in mind that I have a small head and most of my hats are intended for women.

For the Overly Ambitious:  If you just feel that you are not possibly bringing enough to this tea party, here is a list of other things that you can bring.

Table                 (card tables are nice, but any size will do)
Table Cloth
Tea Pot             (I only have three and more are always welcome)
Tea Kettle        (These I really need because I only have one and it's little.)
Food                  (Especially if you are looking for an excuse to try out a recipe that involves a lot of chocolate.)

Menu:  Here is the menu so far.  I will update it as I go.  Let me know if you have any requests.*

Teas:   probably I will make pots of Lemon Ginger,  Earl Grey, Irish Breakfast Tea, and Homemade Mint
I will also have individual tea bags for those of you who are picky.

Food: Bstilla (savory chicken pastry), spinach & feta pastries (the dough is more substantial than spanikopita), cucumber sandwiches, bruscetta, apple bacon scones, brownies, and coffeecake.

*****Note:  Please let me know if you have special diet requirements!  I am trying to accomodate veggies and meat eaters, but if you're vegan I have no idea what to feed you.  Please also let me know if you have food allergies.
Children:  This is not a child friendly event.  Unattended children will be sold as slaves and well attended children will be shoved into tea pots.  Sorry.  You can bring your kids with you to Gabble for Grand Outlandish in the spring.
