Take a gander at this guys and gals. This video was created as part of Dove's Real Beauty campagin. While the idea of a soap company using bidy image as an issue to sell more money is amusing, the video does highlight a big problem in our culture.

We live in a world where everything is mutable. We have surgery and botox and drugs and all sorts of little hints and tricks to reassure us of our attractiveness. And we're measuring ourselves against standards of beauty that normal human beings cannot acheive without digital manipulation.

At this rate, nanotechnology will be developed if only to give rich people the ability to alter their bodies in any way they please.

Yeah, this is nothing new. I know I'm preaching to the choir here. But how many of us reading this judge our physical selves by standards that are insane and impossible? And with digital manipulation and the increasing power of CGI, the standards get less and less realistic.

Don't get me wrong.....I WANT there to come a day when we can change our bodies in whatever fanciful way we desire. I am fully in favor of body modification. But I don't want to see it happen because people are so disgusted with themselves that they will do anything to look like an impossibility.
