What I did during Quarantine

May 22, 2020 11:05

Tomorrow, May 23, will be the first day of me going back to work... Honestly, I'm very sad about it. But life lives on, I need money which apparently makes the world go round...

So before I go back to work, I wanted to share what type of stuff I did while I was out of work.

1. Exercise
This is probably what I'm most proud about. I try to work out thirty minutes a day, six times a week. I found some videos in youtube to guide me, because I have no idea what workouts I should do. So far, I haven't lost weight which is fine by me because I still eat a lot and still eat junk foods. But honestly, it makes me feel better through the day. It feels like I accomplished more in my house-bound life with exercises.

2. Video games
My boyfriend and I didn't get to see each other for more than a month because of this crazy quarantine. Something I haven't mentioned is that my boyfriend is a gamer. Like a legit hardcore one. So, he had this idea of fixing his old gear from years ago and let me borrow them. It took a few weeks of shipping of some parts, but he fixed it! He dropped them off and we just started playing Elder Scrolls Online. I play video games but I'm definitely not great. Most of the time I'm just behind him and doing his lead, which is fine by me. It's definitely a fun way for us to bond. These events led me in buying games that I've been wanting to play and play a particular game I stopped playing a year or so ago. I played a short indie game called Kathy Rain which was free from Amazon. And I finally finished playing Virtue's Last Reward which is said game that I stopped playing. To top it off, I even collected all the trophies in the game! Definitely, good times!

3. Anime
I bought a DVD of an anime from my very first Anime Expo which was in 2016. I bought Gokusen years ago and I finally got to finish it! I still have Hana Yori Dango Anime and Kami-sama Kiss in my DVD library that I'm hoping to watch eventually. The main reason I don't watch them is because my laptop is ancient and very slow which isn't really motivating. But I'm honestly proud I finished one!

4. 1000 Origami Cranes
In 2016, I did a 365 Challenge of making 1000 origami cranes. And uhmmm... well, I didn't finish it. So last year, I actually finished folding them but I didn't have the time to string them up nor even count them. So with the help of quarantine time, I finally got to do them! Apparently, I folded 1,101 origami cranes... Anyway, it's now hanging up near my window and it does look adorable.

5. Quarantine Cooking
Pretty sure a lot of people did this. And I'm one of those people. LOL! We made some matcha puto, made avocado toast, elotes (mexican corn), mango cheesecake, and pudding. They're definitely more on the dessert side. If anything, I'm sad I didn't utilize this time to at least try to make pandesal... That would have been great...

6. Travel journal
Before the quarantine went down, our family went to San Francisco to celebrate my brother's birthday last February. I've been planning on doing a travel journal to just put down my thoughts on what happened there and it's a good way to let out some creativity. So I finally got a good notebook to use. But before San Francisco, my boyfriend and I went to Oregon. So I started my travel journal with our adventures in Oregon. Hopefully, I can do my San Francisco one soon.

7. Virtual book festival and concerts
Due to so many things being cancelled, a lot of people compromised with doing things virtually. I saw some One OK Rock live streamed concerts, and I finally got to see some Arashi concerts too! I was so excited about those. I also virtually attended a book festival. I've gone to YALLWEST twice a couple years ago. And I was hoping to go this year. Happily, they did virtual panels which was really fun. I won a few books from the giveaways and it was just cool being surrounded with book nerds again.

Besides those main things, I also did some cleaning, did some used Christmas tree shopping, played guitar, kinda fixed my car, and even sorta celebrated Cinco de Mayo.

I'm definitely one of those people who are lucky enough to have the luxury of staying home, enjoying my time and my hobbies during these trying times. Like many others, I am so grateful for the amazing people who are helping those who are sick. They definitely deserve vacations after this. And I am grateful that I am well enough to do these things too. They may be mundane but it was definitely some great times for me.

How about you, what did you do during quarantine?

arashi, life, grateful, concert, journal, self, work, blessed
