Just gotten back from a Bangkok trip last weekend. Great getaway with my Scottyboy. Though there were some glitches, everything went just as well.
By glitches, I meant that I met with some misfortune there - I was pickpocketed at Siam Square. I shan't deny it was due to my own carelessness. Well, my sling bag was placed at the back, so she had the chance to get hold of my wallet from the back. The best part was that after the security gave chase, she threw all my cards (IC and bank cards) on the floor and fled with my near-to 4000Baht, and wallet. 4000Baht is almost 200SGD! Argh.. Anyway the people there were helpful. If not for the lady boss of Siam Sq, I wouldnt have recovered the most impt card - my IC. Anyway we made a wasted trip down to the police station and found out that the person who spread the news that the girl was already brought to the police station was actually her accomplice as well. Goodness I totally couldnt communicate with the police there. They couldnt understand what I lost and I couldnt understand a thing they were trying to say as well. And I actually returned to SG with my thai 'police report'.
Other places we visited included Siam Centre, expensive shopping there. Siam Paragon, needless to say, they've got all the branded stuff there. Gaysorn Tower is like super branded region. Actually we were there in search of a Lacoste belt(sold out in sg) that Scott really liked. That explains why we visited these high-class areas. lol. Unfortunately for us, we didnt manage to find it in Bangkok either. MBK is so huge! It houses a departmental store, alot of shops and tonnes of other small stalls, most of which sells de fake stuff. Siam Square is this reallly big sqare of small shops, alleys of them! This place's got quite nice stuff, but after being pickpocketed there we decided to head somewhere else. Scott only managed to get his stuff from there after we went back there the next day. And lastly for Chatuchak, we only managed to spend less than half a day there for we were leaving for Sg at 6.15pm on Saturday. Argh. Lesson learnt - the next time u go to Bangkok, book it over the weekend. The things there are realllllly cheaper than all the places I've mentioned above, and the place is so blardy huge you'll never finish shopping. lol. I couldnt believe it rained when we were at Chatuchak. GUESS WHAT? the market was FLOODED. OMFG. the water level reached my ANKLE! Luckily I was wearing my trusty havanas slippers instead of my birks if not I think my birks would be ruined. Tissue paper, plastic cups and bags floating around. -_- Absolutely disgusting... but we had to carry on walking cos time was limited. haha
As for clubbing, we visited Bed Supper Club (it was a Model's Night on Wed). Not very impressive(imo), the place was small, divided into 2 arenas and it was packed with caucasians. And the music was so-so. And we had to pay a cover charge of SDG 20 each. -_-
The next night, Scott's uncle and his wife(a local there) brought us to this entire stretch of clubs. Freaking impressive from the exterior. Just imagine having an entire row of Zouk look-alikes, maybe even better than zouk, say MOS look-alikes. The stretch is called Hollywood Street. And it's packed with party-goers even on a thursday night. And u know the best part? FREE ENTRY even if u wanna club hop! So u can just visit the different clubs at will. Great place to party! Took pictures of them, Will post them later!
Yeah that's about it, food was good, service was excellent(I meant the restaurants not the markets), thai massage was fantastic. Argh I wanna go there to finish my shopping at Chatuchak. =)
