HEY!!! i am in such a good mood today...and not just because christmas is only three days away. i had one of those wierd dreams last night that makes you change the way you think about things. Sounds really dumb, i know, but it worked, i'm telling you. I finally did something that i had been putting off for a very long time (like, over a year). So as well as being quite proud of myself, i am actually in a good mood.
I have work tonight from five til ten, it's gonna be really busy because it;s the last late night shopping night before christmas. Ah well. then tomorrow, i'm going to my grandmother's house and then saturday, i'm working :D:D and then it's christmas. as far as i know, my grandparents are coming over for our traditionally over the top, way too much English Christmas roast, complete with those jokes in the crackers that all the adults, who have been drinking since nine in the morning, find absoultely hilarious. It will then be followed by everyone watching my pathetic dog get lost and possibly thrown into the recycling bin with all the discarded wrapping paper, and then everybody listening, yet again, to the traditional playing of the scratched vinyl edition of John Lennon's "So this is Christmas" right before we head down to the pool in an effort to cool down. Once we get in the pool, we all get right back out again, seeing as it will no doubt be just as hot as the atmosphere outside of it. My grandad, predictably, will have cannon-balled into the pool with his glasses on, and then lost them, and there will be a big panic over where the prescription lenses have floated to. Then someone, probably me, will have found them down the shallow end, and all sanity will be restored.
That is, until we eat the traditionally sherry/rum doused christmas pudding. Grace in particular will appreciate the unbelievably high alcohol content of the dessert, and will so act upon it. For someone who gets drunk on water, this can be quite spectacular.
So once this is all over, everyone goes to bed, and the parents wake up in the morning with a headache and a bad temper, not wanting to go to the reunion that we have had for years on boxing day. Well, this year, i'm not going either, because I"M WORKING!!!!!!!!! and it's double time, too. ipod, here i come. :P
Wishing everybody a very merry disaster-free christmas and, of course, a happy SENIOR new year.
Love, Claire.
