did anyone catch kanye west saying 'george bush doesn't care about black people' on live network television last night?

too bad the reality is that george bush doesn't care about people. period.
and that, even with our 'first amendment,' such a proclamation was still censored.

Censored by the networks, not by the government.

And, George Bush, being a man I don't like, isn't inhuman. He's just not a great politician and doesn't think of how folks perceive his actions.

In any case, I don't think there's much more that could have been done with NO after the 'cane hit. What people should be focusing on was the lack of preparation--seeing as how this was viewed by the Feds as one of the most likely natural catastrophies to happen in the US as long as three years ago.

the response could've been MUCH quicker.
the levees never should've broken
FEMA's incompetence has been noted as astounding, and if you read the comments by the head of FEMA (a Bush appointee), his perception of how things down here is...to say the least, inaccurate.
I agree with Aly...Bush doesn't care about people, period. He's a very self-centered individual. He basically does what he wants, and has little regard for how it affects others, and how people are harmed by his policies.
Public opinion, world opinion, little seems to matter to him.
It's all rather astounding...he might just be the worst president to ever occupy the white house.

I'd have to give the "worst president to sit" award to either Herbert Hoover or LBJ, myself.

Remember, there are a lot of people in this country that agree with a great many of Bush's policies. I don't agree with them, but what can you do?

people mourned Nero when he died.
Nero played the fiddle while Rome burned, Bush played guitar while New Orleans drowned.
read my entry about it!

The Federal government and the state government of Lousiana don't consist soley of Mr. Bush.

Does Bush staying on vacation play poorly in Peoria? Absolutely. The thing is, there's nothing that he could have done, one way or the other. All the authority for these situations is delegated to other folks--and remember, the very first responsiblity belongs to the state officials.

Things were slow, certainly, but we live in a beauracratic society. Everything that goes has to have an accompanying piece of paper with it. All infrastructure in the area was effectively destroyed, making deployment and relief difficult.

I don't like Bush, and I'm not in the business of writing him passes. But he deserves little blame. If you want to blame anything on him, blame him (and the rest of the federal government) for consistently reducing engineering funds to the state of Lousiana.

Hoover by a landslide. LBJ had the 'great society' thing going which created socail programs that are still in place today. I cna't remember which ones though...
