Supernatural is an excellent canon for crossing over with, well, practically any other canon. It's about two guys driving around investigating strange phenomena. You don't have to worry about including a huge cast, or getting them to wander into places and universes they don't belong, or letting them come off as regular crazy guys to a non-magical universe -- they're used to all that.
Crossover fic
One such story I really enjoyed was
Cross Cases by
yopumpkinhead, which is a Dresden Files/SPN crossover so excellent I had to read the entire excellent book series on account of being addicted to this fic when it was a WIP. (Yes, sometimes I do fandom backwards. Don't judge me.)
I was therefore DELIGHTED when I spotted yopumpkinhead/
fallintosanity on the fandom Puerto Rico charity auction, and promptly commissioned a fic with great delight --
Me: Please write a crossover! SPN!
Raksura! *vague handwavey flailing*
fallintosanity: ...So, if this story wants to expand far beyond the commissioned wordcount, are you cool waiting extra time for a longer story?
Me: (my secret hopes and dreams are coming true) YEESSSS I mean I'm cool with that, sure!
13 MONTHS LATER:
This glorious fic is posted and it is 41k of beautiful wacky funny shenanigans of exactly the type you would expect when alien communal shapeshifting polyamorous dragon-people drop through a universe-rift into Sam and Dean's world. Everybody bonds over ripping Leviathan heads off.

Crossover art
All this talk of crossovers ties in REALLY WELL with my
spn_j2_xmas gift from
kuwlshadow, who funnily enough ALSO chose my vague flaily CROSSOVERS prompt and made THREE (3) illustrations of different SPN 'What if?' crossovers!
Sam and Dean in front of Judge Judy, Sam and Dean on an adventure with Buffy, and Sam and Dean confronted by the Walking Dead cast! Layouts
So go be sure to check out all of the above, and then maybe also admire some very pretty Dreamwidth layouts and styles made by
rosecarmine here at
myrtillenne. I tell you, I did not think anything could tempt me into giving up my simple purple swirly theme, but the second one down is making me seriously reconsider.
Three things make a post! (For those new to Dreamwidth, you can use any number in this phrase. However many things you have is the exact right number for you to make a post with. Let's call this creative math skills - math skills for creative types!)
