K, haven't posted in a while, so I thought I might.
Just commented on my mini-me's post. She reminds me of myself when I was in high school, only a year younger. One really great thing is that she is really into pep band, so she is definitely thinking about marching picc next year! Yes, recruits! She was talking about stress of senior year, man do I not miss that. The college apps, prom, graduation, even senior pictures. In fact, I really don't miss high school at all. Really thought I would. I wouldn't give up college for anything though. I have absolutely wonderful friends here, and even though they weren't ALL pleasant, I had some good experiences too. I don't regret anything and this year really made me realize that everything happens for the best. Husky Marching Band was probably the best thing I could have ever done. I have high school friends telling me they think it is so cool that I have something I am so into, and I met one of my best friends there. I really do have a family there and not just in the piccs too, which is great!
I realized I have a lot of "twins." Allie is my mini-me (but I don't actually call her that) and Kayla and I are the exact same person. Emi is my twin because of the Japanese/Asian/Hawaiian-ness and Becca is my twin/older sister/buddy whatever, cause we are both half-Asian, look a lot alike, like a lot of the same things (Yeah West Wing and horse racing!) and remind a lot of HMBers of each other. Very interesting...and piccs think Alysa and I are joined at the hip. We're not, I swear! I love that because my name is becoming so common, I've been connected to other people. Like on the floor I'm "Kayla's Alyssa" and at HMB I'm the "Alyssa who looks like Becca!" Whatever, I love these people so it's all cool!
Went out to Mother's Day dinner with the family on Friday and worked at Toast NW ALL DAY Saturday. However, it was actually really fun. My job was Quality Assurance, meaning me and two other people had to check every bottle of wine that was sold to make sure the customers were getting the right ones. But at the beginning Jessi and I were helping one of the main organizers check people in and tell people where to go and what to do. At one point we had a walkie-talkie and there were only 7 all together, so we were talking to the head people, lol it was fun. I was a tiny bit stressed, but I really thrive under stressful, fast-paced situations and when you add in the fake-niceness customer service-ness that I've been trained in, I'm really on my game, so overall I had a good time. This morning Grant and I went to help clean up some more and I got a bunch of wine and took some home for my mum/family for Mother's Day.
The West Wing series finale was on tonight and overall, I was kind of disappointed, but oh well. The first part of Grey's finale was on tonight as well and it was SO INTENSE! Plus the girls and I had some Arrogant Ribbet White, so that was pretty good. Jae drank more than her fair share though, so that was fun, lol! So classy! Small emotional crisis this weekend, but it's all good, my love Sari fixed it for me! Hanging out with Kay and Jae in the quad tomorrow after classes before band and going to watch Grey's 2 hour series finale! Hooray! Now they know how to suck an audience in and keep them happy! I'm actually skipping 24, but hey, I need my Grey's and my girls! K, this is long, sorry Laury! Have to get up in 4 hours for registration! Night!
