I am home! Actually, I got home yesterday, but you know you missed me! In case you didn't know, I was in Graham, which, in case you didn't know, is a tiny town sort of northwest of Mount Rainier National Park. I went to visit Alysa and Grant and David and Emily and it was a wonderful time. Okay so here is what I did:
I drove down to Graham Friday night and Alysa and I just kind of hung out and watched TV for a long time. Then on Saturday we drove around Graham (yeah okay, so it didn't take very long, but we hit some of Spanaway too) and then went over to Grant's house. He had decided to cancel his jam session but Alysa and I just hung out while he cleaned his trombone and put it back together. Actually, we played in the soapy water and made more videos on Grant's cell phone, which was fun! Then we just kind of hung out and watched Family Guy and talked with his mom and sister Michelle. We had really good pork for dinner and then went bowling with a few of Grant's friends. It was highly entertaining, especially because I bowled well (for me!) which is a 93 and then like an 86. Hey, it's good for me! Anyways, other than a minor incident, it was very fun! Lys and I headed back home around midnight because we were planning on going to church the next day.
So Sunday morning Alysa and David and I tried to go to church the next day, and in all honesty, we did catch about 20 minutes of a sermon. However, the church that we were trying to go to was a lot further down the road than we thought, but whatever. Then we just kind of bummed around Lys's house for a while. Trevor, David's roommate was supposed to come down to Graham and hang out with us for the next couple days, but he was cross-country skiing in Leavenworth, so he couldn't come. Lame! Haha j/k! Anyways, David, Lys and I went to see V for Vendetta Sunday night. That movie was really good and I even applied some of my comparative politics knowledge to it. It was a strange movie but overall, really interesting. One problem that Lys and I both had was that they played some classical music, specifically Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture and Beethoven's 5th Symphony. But they would play them at very important parts, dialog-wise, in the movie. During Beethoven's 5th, I had to refocus more than once to figure out what they were talking about, and honestly, I don't really remember what they were talking about. Also, the film composer was Dario Marianelli, which I'm sure means nothing to most of you, but he was nominated for his score for Pride and Prejudice (even though iTunes doesn't even give him credit for writing it! They gave the credit to the piano player Jean-Yves Thiabaudet.) He also wrote for the Brothers Grimm, if any of you saw that. Aah, being a music nerd is so wonderful, especially when Alysa thinks the same things! So after my rant...haha!
Anways, on Monday we planned to go to Mount Rainier. David and Emily (Lys's friend from Western) and her and I drove up to Longmire and ran around and played in the snow. So yeah, us three girls suck at throwing snowballs, but we can tackle David and take him down. Alysa and I would hold him down and one time, Emily made him eat snow and the next time she shoved snow down the back of his pants! Then we drove higher up the mountain and found more powdery snow at Paradise and continued to throw snowballs and tackle each other. There were also places to sled and so we did that, including all of us flying over bumps in the pathways! We also found some really cool snow fort someone had made, which went into the ground a little with steps and everything. It also had this little tower thing with a balcony/ledge type thing and bricks even carved into the side. So we had a really good time, even though we were completely soaked because we are all wearing just jeans and sweatshirts and stuff.
So our drive back was kind of entertaining. We were just hanging out and talking and I accidently spit a crumb of a Triscut at Alysa while she was driving, but she didn't react. This was because she had just tried to accelerate and the car wouldn't. We pulled over and tried to figure it out, but we couldn't so we had to call her dad. It was kind of annoying cause people kept trying to stop and ask us for help, but when there are three cars in a row and they ALL stop and ask if we need help, that's getting a little ridiculous! Anyways, we thought it was the alternator, but we couldnt' fix it so we had to tow the car back behind a Jeep. It turns out it was the timing belt, so if you are ever in the same situation, this is what it might be. Haha!
Then we went back to Lys's house and lasgna and REALLY GOOD french bread. We just hung out and played cards and looked at music instrument catalogs (again with the music-geekness!) until 9:00, when we all watched 24. So good!
Tuesday Lys had a doctor's appointment and so I drove her there and on the way there we passed the school where Ms. Asher (our band student teacher my junior year who inspired me to teach music!) teaches! It was kind of cool and I wanted to stop by, but I didnt' want to make Alysa come with me, so we didn't. Later we actuallyu sat through almost all of the first Fantasia. For being big music nerds, the first Fantasia is incredibly hard to sit through, I dont' really know why, but Fantasia 2000 is SO much better! Then we went and practiced flute and picc, which was really fun because we played through the Nutcracker Suite because I brought flute 1, 2 and 3/piccolo. Lys played 1 and I played mostly 3/piccolo and played 2 when needed. Then we had dinner and watched the Sound of Music, which I absolutely LOVE! Liesl's pink dress, and actually a lot of her other dresses too, are SO beautiful! And that movie is SO cute! I also found some really good quotes for my Facebook/AIM profiles, but sadly enough, I can't remember most of them. Wednesday morning we slept in really late and then I left around 1. I drove home and went to school to pick up some skirts for Vegas and my package and then to Office Depot to spend my gift card because I needed school supplies for school anyways.
I've just been bumming around the rest of the time and then I am leaving for Las Vegas with my mum tomorrow morning for my grandma's 80th birthday. Hawaii convention in Vegas, of course, yet again! It'll be fun and my mum isn't wanting to spend a lot of time when our family either so we can just go around and go shopping and stuff. Yay! Okay, I need to go pack and go to bed, because we are going to have to be at the airport even earlier than necessary because that's the only time we can get there. Oh man! Anyways, I hope everyone enjoyed my description of my trip to Graham!
