Witch Hunt Response

May 31, 2007 05:42

This is my response I posted to LJ's attempts to say "sorry, but it's really your own fault for having different interests!"

Read the full not-really-an-apology letter HERE

Though I seriously doubt they will even read it, let alone reply or listen to my comment.

================================

Your whole site has severely scared, disturbed, angered, and disappointed myself and countless others.

You took what would have been a noble venture and turned it into a witch hunt. I have already made accounts on GreatestJournal and InsaneJournal and am seriously contemplating completely moving.

You can say your sorry but the fact remains that you did it. Would you even be sorry now if your business wasn't at risk? You could not only lose a lot of your customers and damage your reputation, your risking being sued.

I suppose my biggest questions to you are these:

1. How can we trust you, now? You have proved to us that you don't care about the concept of 'innocent until proven guilty'. You acted rashly and irresponsibly. How can we be sure you won't do it again?

2. What will you do to make amends? Will you be putting in new policies to ensure this doesn't happen again? Will you be somehow compensating those innocent people you persecuted? Your transgressions are serious and your victims deserve, at the very least, a generous amount of free 'paid account' access.

It's how you act in the coming months that will be the deciding factor with myself and a lot of people on whether or not we leave. Choose wisely.

And, like a lot of people, I still want to know why they always said "sorry, not our job" when people complained about real threats and violations only to start a witch hunt now?
