I have some extremely exiting news, everyone. After being unemployed and acting homemaker since October, I have a job! A wonderful acquaintance of mine here in town called me on Saturday afternoon to tell about a job opening at the Chamber of Commerce. She apparently knows the executive director fairly well and mentioned my name whenever she found out the chamber was in dire need of personnel. I called on Monday and set up an appointment for an interview with the E.D. for 11:30AM. Apparently the interview went very well because she called me at 3:30 Monday afternoon to offer me the job of Chamber secretary and graphic designer. She even showed my resume and portfolio to the Chamber president. I started my job at 9AM this morning. By 4:30 this afternoon, I had taken several calls, helped two walk-in customers, met with the Chamber president, met the museum curator, and created an ad for the city. It’s been an insanely busy day and I cannot wait to go back tomorrow!
By the way, for those of you worried that I won’t make it to AggieCon this weekend thanks to my newfound employment, don’t worry. I have Friday off and plan to be in College Station by early afternoon. Another fun note, the Chamber of Commerce president is an Aggie, Class of 1975! WHOOP!
The whipcream on this cake, by the way, is that I have managed to update the print-on-demand book site www.anthologybuilder.com and my own Web site
http://alyciachristine.shutterfly.com with several drawings and photos. I also have the first chapter of my novel Dreamdrifter finished, after a five-month writer's block. Dreamdrifter (Book Two of the Metamorphosis Series) is the sequel to my first novel Skinshifter, which is currently undergoing massive editting.
