As part of National Poetry Writing Month, I will be writing 30 poems in 30 days. I will try to write one each day, but if I miss a day or two, I will catch up on later days. Sometimes I will be following prompts; while other days will come from my own ideas.
I've been continuing to write poems during our trip, although I haven't had time to post them. Over the next few days, I'll try to catch up.
Preparing for Our Trip to Illinois
1. Things I packed
My formal wedding dress, your ringbearer's suit
Healthy snacks for the plane
Activity books, trains, plush animals, crayons
A GPS device, battery chargers, laptop, camera
The usual assortment of socks, underwear, shirts, and pants
Extra apples, granola and coconut milk for breakfast
Diapers, wipes, and diaper rash ointment
Favorite nighttime toys and favorite pajamas
2. Things I should have packed
Winter coats (for a sudden turnaround in the weather)
Wind-B-Gone
Kites
My husband (our toddler wanted his daddy)
Sometimes, it seems, a clue
Enough change to feed the meters in Champaign
An extra set of hands, or two or three
A magic, refilling milk bottle
A crystal ball, to predict all of the above
