End of an Era

When I visited my family this past weekend, I saw in person the results of a fire that had hit a neighbor. A dry cleaning business that was next to my father's burned down, along with two adjoining buildings.

The photo of the flowers is really striking.

When I was 17, the shop next to the one I worked at burnt down - ours was incredibly lucky to have been saved! It was really eerie going by the next day and seeing this huge black hole where the cafe had been :(

It's going to be empty there. They're in the flood plain and unlikely to be allowed to rebuild. It may become a park eventually, but for now it's just sad.
