After the blogging panel at Philcon on Sunday, I headed up to the room where keynote speaker Catherine Asaro's reading had taken place for our scheduled interview.

You know, I really ought to interview you for Wild Violet. Would you be interested?

Well that was disappointing! And...odd.

My thoughts exactly.

Personally I wouldn't bother with the publicist. That kind of behaviour would leave me not wanting to have anything to do with them again. Nobody's that big a name that they can be rude, especially when it's someone giving them free publicity.

You might be right, but I'm going to send them anyway, just to see what happens.

That's OK. Frank Wu should be a terrific interview. Now that I'm back from Thanksgiving, I'm going to peruse his work and come up with some appropriate questions.

Inappropriate questions might be fun, too.

There's another moral. Sometimes people can act like jerks :)

Even nice people. I've known Ms. Asaro for years and have never seen her be anything except very gracious. I wonder if she really wasn't feeling well, or if she's just different that she was a few years back.

She seemed to be very busy every time I saw her. Maybe this was just a rough weekend for her.

I don't blame her for feeling overwhelmed and asking to reschedule.

I do think that if she choses to run out on you, she should have made it easier for you to reach her in the future.
