Work has been unbelievably stressful. I feel like a chicken with it's head cut off. Right now I'm setting up the new operating room, which doesn't sound all that hard, but actually takes a lot of work. I don't have to mess with figuring out the best way to build it any more. That phase is complete and it's up. Right now I have to think of every supply that we will need and possibly need for surgery, recovery, and everything before and after. I would be fine if that was it, but my vendor hasn't a clue where to find all of this stuff. Luckily, I still have some connections at MCE, and I got a few numbers of rep's who can help me out. That isn't easy, either. You have to meet with them, tell them what you're interested in, fill out a credit app, get quotes, etc. I'm starting to feel a lot better about everything now that I've spoken to about 4 rep's and understand what products they carry.
We're hiring an RN. I was hoping that she would start work in enough time to take some pressure off of me so that instead of doing 3 other things and trying to order all of this stuff, I could just do maybe 2 things at once instead of 4. No such luck. Her NCLEX isn't until the week before we open our OR. She has no surgery training, so that is going to be up to me. It might seem that surgery is cool and fun and pretty easy to understand, but it's pretty much like learning how to walk on a tight rope. The only difference is, instead of you dying if you make a mistake, someone else may die. Worst case scenario, of course. I'm sure everything will work out just fine, but I may completely lose my mind in the process. If anyone wants to visit me, I'll be in the nearest loony bin.
Today we're having breakfast with a small group of people in celebration of Natalie's B'day. Afterward, we're going to the river to play with the sea-doos(I'm a master at splashing people) and attempt to wake board. I'm excited...I haven't had a chance to wakeboard since last summer. I was just getting sort of comfortable with it. It's going to be a fun day!
