I'll Stay
Summary: Nikki's going through something and Zac helps.

“Dad drop me off here and drive around the corner and down one block.” Zac told his father. He was getting frantic. His girl was gone and everyone could tell what a total mess it made him. She was in L.A. and had no clue where she was. Both Vanessa and Shia both just called his cell phone to let him know they hadn’t found her yet. Amanda called soon after and said she wasn’t at the rehearsal room where she usually went to hide. Elijah and Adam had searched the venue where her new movie had just premiered with a fine tooth comb and had no luck. James and his wife went by her hotel room and even called her family in other states to see if they knew where she was. They didn’t.
But no one had a clue where she was. He had already checked everywhere else he could think of the only place he hadn’t checked yet was their place. He and Nikki had gotten really close. They had become best friends. Surprisingly closer than he and Corbin were or could ever be. So close he called her “His Girl”. So close he gave her a locket necklace with a picture of her and him on one side and just him on the other, “So all those jerks know whose you are before they step to you.” So close that anyone who wanted to ask her out had to get permission from him first (the newest unspoken rule in Hollywood). So naturally he was out of his mind with worry when her parents called saying she hadn’t come back from the premier yet. They had called at 3:30 am. The after party was over at one.
As soon as his dad left he took off at a sprint in the other direction and through a patch of trees to their spot they’d found on accident on one of her visits.
There she was on one of the swings. He could tell it was her because she was wearing his San Francisco Giants sweatshirt. She had worn it about 6 days into shooting Hairspray and never gave it back…Not that he had asked.
She was sitting so still he was almost afraid to talk to her.
He backed away and pulled out his cell phone.
“Dad I found her we’ll walk back to my apartment. Can you call her parents please. Tell them she’s staying with me over the holiday. Thanks” He said in hushed tones. He hung up and saw that she hadn’t moved. He approached her silently.
“Need a push?” Zac asked quietly from behind her.
Nikki nodded silently. She was sitting on the swings in the park. Their park. It was secluded and quiet. And nobody knows its there. None of their friends do at least. Every once in a while a couple or two come passing through. But otherwise it was theirs.
He began to push her slowly. She held on to the chains so tightly her knuckles turned white. Slowly all the hurt went away. The only things she could feel were the wind and his strong hands on her back.
“You gonna tell me what you ran for. Everyone has been looking for you.”
He was talking about after the premier today, the last day of promotions before Christmas, when she saw Jason and he said hello and she ran to her car and drove straight here. The whole day she was able to avoid Jason the stealer of her innocence. The innocence she was hoping she could give away. And he found her anyway and mocked her.
It had happened almost a year ago then he broke up with her. Nikki felt dirty and used. Like every time one of her friends looked at her they saw what she was hiding. She prayed they didn’t.
She figured it was time to tell him.
“Jason raped me.” She whispered so softly the wind almost carried her words away.
“HE WHAT? I’LL KILL THAT SLIMY BASTARD. WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?”
Nikki kind of expected this reaction from him. She knew he wouldn’t like that Jason had hurt her. They had played 21 questions, them and the gang, and Vanessa had asked him what he would do if anyone hurt her. He answered simply but forcefully enough to scare every living soul in the room including herself that he would kill them and gladly take the punishment whatever it may be just as long as she was safe.
“Almost 11 months ago before he broke up with me. I said no. He hit me. I passed out and when I woke up my clothes were all over my room in pieces and he was inside of me and…and…it hurt…it hurt soo much.”
She was crying now.
Zac clenched his fist and Nikki could have sworn she heard him growl. But he soon cooled off when he realized she was sobbing uncontrollably.
“I’m ok…I don’t think about it…to much I mean I even think I like a guy I know…but yesterday was the court hearing and the judge let him off with two years community service. So when I saw him in the crowd I just couldn’t help it. I thought he was laughing at me on the inside.”
“Nikki...He’s a jerk...And I knew you shouldn’t have started going out with him...He didn’t deserve you...you need someone who knows you inside and out...someone who understands you...what he did was inexcusable and I will make him pay dearly as will the rest of the gang...especially Shia and Adam and Elijah and Jimmy and John and Michelle and Queen oh I can’t wait until they find out and kick his butt...OH man and Nessa and Corbin and Amanda and there crazy selves... I can’t wait to see him after Corbin’s done with him...anyways...sorry got a bit off topic I think Manda’s beginning to rub off on me...but baby girl…sweetheart...it wasn’t your fault. But why wait till now to tell me?” Zac told her.
“I was scared what Jason said would happen. He said people would think I was a slut if I told. Including you.”
“I don’t even think anything close to that I think you’re strong and brave and absolutely wonderful for taking him on.”
Nikki’s body shook with a new wave of tears.
He held her tightly and Nikki was sure she had never felt so safe and secure in her whole life.
Zac wasn’t sure anything had felt so perfect considering the circumstances.
“But if I had just said yes...”
“He would have still broken up with you and would not have felt any better. Your first time should have been with someone you love and trust.”
“I trust you...” Nikki had stated softly.
“What was that...” Zac answered not quite hearing what she said.
“I said I’m cold.” She covered up quickly.
“Well come on I already talked to your parents about it so its you and I babe in casa de Moi uninterrupted for about two weeks while my parent’s and Dylan head out to Texas over the Christmas vacation to convince my grand-ma not to divorce my grand-pa to be a Kobe Bryant groupie again...LOOONNNGGGG story don’t ask. So it’s no promotions no cameras no parent’s no nada. It’s gonna be you and me and tons of movies. Come on.” He said animatedly.
“Zac...”
“Yea...”
“I trust you...” She said kissing his cheek after grabbing onto his hand.
“Good to know.” He said grinning.

They went by her hotel room first getting her some clothes then drove to his house in her car.
They went to his parents hotel room first to tell his parents they were there Nikki getting long warm hugs from both of them. So after eating dinner with his parents and blushing profusely at his dad’s half-joking remark about safe sex as he handed Zac a box of condoms. They headed outside.
Once they got settled in they watched one of their favorite movies 2fast2furious and laughed all the way through Scary Movie 3. Soon Nikki started to drift off to sleep.
“You can have the master bedroom and I will take the guest room right next door kay?”
Nikki shook her head no.
“Stay with me please.”
“Of coarse.”
