If you're wanting to eat them without drying and sorts, s'best to put the apples some place cold. They're already ripe, but they go bad quicker if you leave them out in the open bit more than half if warm.

[He cleared his throat.] And save the seeds, course. [Another clearing of his throat.]

Er.  It's maddening sitting about without much to do. ' ( Read more... )

I don't know if Harry told you yet but we were planning to try and make Quidditch sets so that you could make teams and play again. We assumed you'd want to help us... would you?

Course I would, but how's that? Mean a broomstick alone has to be specially crafted.

Well I don't know much about Quidditch, except for what Harry told me. Still we should be able to work something out, right? Sure It probably won't be as good as what you have back home but...

We're not broommakers or ball supplies, that's for sure. Shouldn't be all that difficult, think the worst bit would be trying to figure out how make a snitch.

Most probably. But challenges are what make things worth it, right? And it'd help keep ourselves busy, so.

Suppose so, yeah. Maybe there's brooms about no one's found. Possible, right? With the rest of what can be found here and all. Maybe we'd get lucky enough for a snitch.

How does a snitch work?

It was created to mimick the Golden Snidget ages ago. It's a small, beady ball with wings that's damned impossible to see. It's specially crafted and all, but dunno what charms they use to get it to work.

I know... ['what it looks like'. But she stops herself just in time.] I've heard of it from Harry. Maybe we could find some book that explains that. Or try and create our own charm.

Er, right. [A beat.] Quidditch Through the Ages has a bit, but not the enchantments. Reckon that's more closely guarded than the makings of a broomstick. Probably would have to figure out a new way for it.

That would sound logical to me if it were.

Well I guess I could always use telekinesis but, since Harry's my boyfriend, if he ever managed to catch it, everyone would think I helped him win. [But the way she says that, it clearly sounds ridiculous to her.]

[Ron chuckles.] Good thing it shouldn't be harder than making a broomstick to enchant a tiny ball, innit?

Just can't have it looking exactly like it, probably. But least it's something.

Hmm.

Also we should play chess more regularly if we can. You're one of the most, um, challenging partners I've had in a long time.

Challenging, huh? I haven't played against a proper opponent in ages. [like when the uncle who taught him died. and the giant chessboard.]
