In-Game Character Information
Name: Maylene O’Nyhyn
Series: Kuroshitsuji
Age: 22

Personality: To anyone outside of the Phantomive Household, Maylene is simply the hired help- a clumsy but well-meaning girl with unwavering dedication to the household’s Young Master. Like the rest of the Phantomhive staff (save Sebastian, of course) she seems utterly incapable of completing a task given to her without causing a catastrophe in some manner or another. It may be due to stupidity, or it may simply be that she needs new glasses- as the ones she wears are cracked. She refuses to replace them, however, seeing as they were the first thing her Young Master ever bought for her. Also, even though he regularly berates her and insults her intelligence, she seems to have something of a crush on Sebastian, as she blushes, stutters and becomes nearly ten times clumsier whenever he's around her. Regardless of her numerous and repetitive failures, however, Maylene doesn't give up, instead simply going about trying her best with every task she's given, no matter how small. And no matter how she's scolded, she always continues on with a smile.

Underneath her normal, clumsy persona however, Maylene hides a personality just as dangerous as the rest of the Phantomhive staff. Though the origins of her talents are unknown, Maylene is a skilled sniper and sharpshooter, and transforms into almost another person when she removes her glasses to use her impressive long-distance eyesight. When she's like this, she's willing to go against just about anyone, regardless of odds, simply because she will do what she has to in order to protect her Young Master- no matter how merciless she has to make herself be. Her loyalty to Ciel, like the rest of the Phantomhive servants, is unshakeable and absolute. She appears to be incredibly strong as well- though not to Finnian's degree- as she is able to hold, aim and shoot two sniper rifles at once- one in each hand. For the most part however, she keeps this side of herself well-hidden and will try her absolute best not to have to become that person if she can at all help it.

Background: Maylene spent most of her childhood in an orphanage in Northern Ireland, though if you asked, she couldn’t tell you its name or where, exactly, it was located. Like every Hogwarts student, she received her letter at the age of eleven and shortly thereafter- with the help of a very kind local witch- made her way to London and from there, to school. Granted, she wasn’t exactly the brightest girl, but she was hardly a failure- simply clumsy and far-sighted and very easily flustered. Surprisingly, her best subjects were DADA and Divination, two areas which do not often find someone whom excels in both. It was always assumed that when she left the school, she would find some menial work at the Ministry of Magic, filing paperwork or some such that didn’t actually require the use of too much magic. However, shortly after her graduation from Hogwarts, she disappeared without a trace…

Very little is known about Maylene’s past between the time she left Hogwarts and when she came under the employ of the Phantomhive household- not even Ciel himself is certain of her entire story. However, when she discovered where Ciel would be going, Maylene saw fit to divulge that she too had once attended the school. However, sometime between her last year at Hogwarts and two years later when she was found and hired by Ciel, it was obvious Maylene had gone through something that had made the otherwise harmless girl capable of feats most women would fear to even think about.

When Ciel found her- helped her, she consigned herself to the service of the Phantomhive Heir without question, grateful for not only her new job, but in essence, a new life. There she became acquainted with the other members of the staff- a frighteningly-strong but kind boy named Finnian who worked in the gardens, a loud, crude but well-meaning chef who went by Bard, and the former Head Butler, an elderly gentleman by the name of Tanaka. And then, of course, there was also the current head butler- one Sebastian Michaelis. The very sight of him made her feel like she’d just thrown a quaffle through a goal from midfield on one of the Young Master’s Firebolts (which was saying something, as Maylene was terrible at Quidditch)- though much to her dismay, the feeling was hardly mutual.

When the Young Master decided to attend the school, however, Maylene decided to follow, if only for his own safety and having nothing to do with the fact that a certain butler had already followed as well.

Blood: Half

Preferred House: Hufflepuff
Why you think they belong in this house? Maylene is kind and hardworking, but appears to not be very bright, and despite her best efforts, nothing ever quite seems to go her way.

Staff Position: Game Keeper
Why you think they fit this position? Aside from being (surprisingly) quite good at DADA, Maylene is also an excellent marksman, and would have no trouble tending to anything on the grounds that got… out of hand.
If Professor would you want them to be Head of House? Bad Idea~

Roleplay Samples

Journal Sample: [The following is dictated breathlessly to the journal, as the owner is currently in pursuit of an owl over the grounds]

I-if there is someone in the school who owns a rather large and, um…. older barn owl prone to snatching things from people, p-please come to the grounds beneath the Owlery immediately… I’m afraid it’s gotten a hold of something rather important and I would like them back… P-preferably- ow!- before it drops them… O-or worse.

Please- they’re very important to me, and I’d hate to have to resort to o-other methods to get them back..!

Oh- no, not toward the forest..!

Roleplay Sample: “No, no, no, no, no..!”

Maylene hiked her skirt up a little higher, legs pumping as she followed her target’s course. She didn’t know whether it was a good thing or a bad thing that she could so easily see him as high up as he was- him and the glasses held perilously in its talons. Were she anyone else, or anywhere, she’d have already reached for the pistols hidden under her skirts- the owl was hardly of any consequence to her or the Young Master after all… but there were other children here, and she very much doubted that the creature’s owner would be too pleased if she shot it down, regardless of what it was holding.

Still, if she couldn’t get a hold of it soon, she was going to have to-

“Oof-!”

She tripped, flailing her arms and letting out a rather undignified shriek, but tucked and rolled as she hit the ground, scrambling back to her feet and casting her eyes around for the owl once again. At least it was no longer headed for the forest.

But now, it was headed toward the lake.

“Uwaaaaaaahhhh!”

She took off after it like a shot, shouting for it to come back and hoping that it’s owner would see fit to make him or herself known soon.
