Growth

As Freshman Year of my college experience draws to a close, I have a few words of wisdom to impart on you all, and a few memories that need to be reminisced. They say that college is the best time of your life, and man, were they telling the truth. I got to college, and to be perfectly honest, I went a little crazy. I went out to parties multiple times every weekend. I had one really bad night of which I would like to forget the stuff about it that I do remember... As for the stuff I don't remember, I'd like to believe it didn't happen. First tidbit of advice, don't get bored at a party and drink yourself into oblivion. Suffice to say, I think everyone should hit their limit once so they know what it feels like, and what happens to them when they're far-gone. However, now, I don't drink anymore, because it's not worth it. I am crazy enough without it. I will always remember the quote that Ron asked me in the beginning of the year: Ron-"Leah, how much have you been drinking?" Leah-"Nothing at all." Ron-"You dance like while you're sober!?!?"

Second, I have discovered just how much I enjoy dancing, and I'm not bad either, I must say. Whether out at frat parties or in my swing class, it's a blast. My swing teacher asked me to be his TA for fall semester's Sunday class, so sign up if you're interested! It'll be fun for me. I get private lessons, and get paid. So hey, look at that. Dancing is quite fun. Steve and I are going to take ballroom lessons over the summer, which will be A LOT of fun too, and when Steve is up here in the fall, he's going to take my swing class!

That brings me to my perfect boyfriend. No joke. I did not know that guys like Steven Washuta existed. He has surpassed the expectations of the guy of my dreams. In three days, not only is it our 6 month anniversary, but he is also going to arrive in Ithaca, NY, to pick me up from school. Then we're going to PA and NYC for a few days before driving down to Florida. THEN next semester, Steve got a co-op job in Allentown, PA, which is 3 hours south of Cornell, so I will be able to see him EVERY weekend! Our relationship could not be going any better if I wanted it to. I am so happy with him; I could no longer imagine my life without him in it.

On to classes. Cornell is Ivy League for a reason. Classes are hard, I will admit. Finals are even harder. I've taken my computer science and multi-variable calculus finals already, and I'm very frightened about that calc one. I love school though. It's challenging, but it's not impossible for me. I'm very proud of myself for being able to stand up against some of the smartest kids in the world and make it. I will miss being here over the summer--the independence, the late nights, the parties, the people--but I'm ready for a vacation this summer. I have two more exams: Monday-Chemistry, Tuesday-Physics. Then Steve arrives, and we leave Wednesday afternoon.

I have grown a lot this year, and my life has definitely changed. Definitely for the better. I am very happy, and I just can't wait to see what the future will bring... Have a great summer everyone, and if you're in la Florida, let me know!!
