This rotation is really f'ing with my body. I go in at 1 AM 3-4 times a week then in at 6 AM 1-2 times a week. So on the weekend, I can't get to sleep until about 5 AM. Then my entire weekend is spent sleeping instead of doing things that I don't get to do during the week. I've still managed to make the weekends pretty fun though.
Yesterday Gavin had a "stock the bar" party to go to for his wedding so we went there. To my surprise, it was catered by Superior Grill and the margaritas, guacamole, and salsa flowed like wine. Then we just stayed up late as hell after we caught pretty much every last call in downtown Birmingham.
Next weekend it's E-town reunion in Destin for Manny's bachelor party. Should be pretty badass. Then the following weekend, I have Gavin's bachelor party to go to in the ATL
I'm doing my first rotation presentation on a new, experimental drug that is used to treat serious brain tumors that normally give a person about 6-8 months to live. This drug (Tm-601) is scorpion venom that they found out only binds to tumor cells in the brain and leaves normal cells alone. So they attach radioactive iodine onto it and it only kills the tumor. It's pretty badass. In addition, it was discovered right here in B'ham at UAB. All I've read about it seems pretty promising; it completely eradicated all cancerous cells in 3 of the 18 people they have used it in only after a single dose. I guess Alabama finally gets a point in the "contributing to society" column.
