i'm glad. this weekend has actually been really nice in a c'est-la-vie way... ohhhhh raspberries my dog is scratching on the door with a fluffless hedgehog toy between her teeth. one momennnttt.
anyways. on friday i came home and slept on the couch for a good solid four hours, which was pure bliss, then ate dinner and watched a walk to remember on tv with mom until like two. AND ONLY CRIED A LITTLE, AT THE PART WHERE HE HUGS HIS DAD AFTER HE PAYS FOR AT-HOME CARE! just a little trickle of tears too. but i guess that's not surprising, since i only during movies when i'm sitting next to other people who are crying (except for cool runnings... millie do you remember when yule realizes that he can't live in buckingham palace?!?!?! that one set me off every time).
saturday was extremely weird but good. i went to piper & siblings' first birthday party at winslow park AHHHHH it was soooo cuuuuute! she got to see both her parents and her aunt and about seven of her brothers and sisters and they romped in the mudflats and dunked their heads in puddles and raced through the brush together. aww.
then dad and patrick and i went to patricio's basketball game, where i was almost killed by a hundred little boys doing lay-ups that (more often than not) went pelting into the people sitting on the bleachers. that was a good time.
finally i walked up to the high school around 12:15 and got lunch at foodstop, figuring i had time to buy lunch before the southwesterns bus came which was supposed to be at 12:30. but then i ran into laura and all the techies taking their lunch break from set construction in the cafeteria, so i sat with them for a couple minutes and was informed that the bus was not coming until one. after which laura and i went into the lobby and waited for HALF AN HOUR and still there was not one other person on the swim team in sight. this making us extremely angry and confused, we went into the pool where andrew bowden and david wells were lifeguarding. they told us that the bus had left at least half an hour ago. so we banged our fists into the walls for a while and then laura said she was going to get back to tech. :) so i started walking home because the middle school where patrick had been playing was now deserted. when i got home (with the help of a ride from my neighbors) i had to explain to my parents why i wasn't on my way to westbrook, but we agreed that it was fine that i'd missed the bus because i wasn't even swimming anyways, just going to cheer. THIRTY SECONDS LATER SAM WOOD CALLED ME FROM HER CELL PHONE IN WESTBROOK, AND ASKED ME WHERE I WAS BECAUSE I WAS SWIMMING AND MEET STARTED IN HALF AN HOUR. nice. the bus had left while i was eating lunch twenty feet away.
ok this is getting very long-winded BUT the summary is that i got there on time and was able to swim my little 50 free in the 200 free relay and succeeded in not looking like a complete idiot although i had not swum for two days. our relay team even got t-shirts for placing second in our heat! and overall greely placed fourth out of nine which was also very very good. dad and i bonded over kfc meals on the way home, and when i got back i watched a walk to remember with mom again because she loved it so much that she rented it. :-D
andddd yesterdayyyy was awesome too! i got to spend time with the b-flies at the mall, ate soba and a maki roll at sarku, found out what a lip-pumper is, and learned that plums are the main ingredient of seduction. :) so much fun.
after that was japanese, which never fails to be hilarious and extremely divertido. after that i went to a superbowl party at my brother's best friend's house, which was pretty fun despite me being the only person out of forty participants that was older than ten and younger than 35. unfortunately i only saw about three commercials, a very unattractive 62 year-old man decided it would be a good idea to wear a bellyshirt to his half-time performance, and the seahawks lost. but i got to watch grey's anatomy from start to finish which was amazinggggggg although it was REALLY intense and i don't know if i can wait until the next episode. i'll do my best.
random fact of the day:
half-people, half-seals are called selkies. this i learned from watching the secret of roan inish this morning. a very interesting movie where everyone had really strong irish accents and the parents were ridiculously inattentive to their children, i.e. accidentally letting their infants float out to sea in their cradles and allowing kids to play on deserted islands by themselves. it was a good movie though, really. :)
