Warnings: Spoilers for the uh. Well for stuff with Gin in Devil Survivor. Also some graphic imagery. /vague Effects: Comfort, a feeling of ease... followed quickly by fear, disgust, and guilt.
[It's Dastan's first time watching the dream of someone else and the dreams hit home so much that it's difficult not to say anything. The feelings in the dreams.....they are the same he felt after his father had been killed by Nizam. He shifts uncomfortably, searching for the right words to say, but even the Persian Prince knows that there's nothing that can be said that can undo the guilt. Dastan wishes he is more like Tus, his older brother, better with words, used to comforting people. But the third son shares more with Garsiv on that aspect, and so he bites his lower lip before speaking]
...There was nothing you could have done to save him. It was his choice...
He was the one that put the rope around his neck, not you. No matter what you did that could have let him to that decision, he still had the choice not to kill himself and face whatever made him fear life that much.
[Says the man that still feels guilty about not being able to keep his grip on the Princess. But the young man doesn't need to know that. The teenager's next words make Dastan nods slightly. That he can relate.]
If you say so.
[He looks back squarely. You're the one strangely dressed.]
[Kiyoshi just... starts laughing. It's been a while since someone who didn't know the situation suggested that he was doing this out of 'revenge'. In a way he was, but...]
I've already started down the path to my final decision on the matter. That situation is over. The Shomonkai will not be protected when my army begins the war. Not just for this incident... but for a number of others, as well.
[The Prince raises an eyebrow as the teen starts to laugh. He shakes his head lightly at the mention of war. Although he's always been part of the conquering side in his world, the thought of war just for revenge brings a weird taste in his mouth. Just like when his brother decided to attack Alamut.]
I see. You command your own armies?
[Isn't he a little bit young for that? Even at 25, Dastan had yet to be able to command the whole Persian army.]
[The surprise on Dastan's face can easily be seen.]
Demons...huh.
[It's hard for the Prince to imagine armies composed of demons: he's never been one to believe firmly in Heaven or Hell or any of the places the Gods might have created. Until he had met Tamina and had seen the power of the dagger. But still...demons? It's a little hard to believe]
[See the expression on his face? That's what the utmost confusion face the Prince can have. He has NO idea what you're talking about. And so he simply nods. Feel free to laugh at him]
[The Prince chuckles lightly and nods, smiling sheepishly]
I am sorry, I did not mean any disrespect, your Highness. But I do have to admit that I have never heard of 'angels' or 'university' before. Though I am quickly learning that there are plenty of things I have never heard before.
... Angels are the servants of God. As for university... it's a place many young people in my time go to learn more things after they've completed the basic requirements for schooling.
...There was nothing you could have done to save him. It was his choice...

So in a way, it's my fault.
... But he won't have died in vain.
[He looks up at the screen, staring at the strangely-dressed man for a moment. Huh.]

[Kiyoshi shakes his head.]
They're the ones who hung him.

Oh, I see.
[Well that changes everything. But still...]
Revenge is not going to bring him back. Though I know it may seems like it will help with the grief.
[Wow. Why isn't Tus or his father ever around when he says intelligent things like that?]

Servants of God in my world are humans.
Do all of young people receive schooling in your world?
Reply
And most of them do. In countries that have the money to educate them, at least.
