001; I know, an actual fandom post with absolutly no mention of fanfic. Strange, right?
+ Books. I just finished reading James Dashner's The Maze Runner, which I throughout enjoyed, and I'm ready to start on The Scorch Trials while I'm waiting for my library to have an available copy of Allie Condie's Crossed.
+ Movies. Watched Super 8 again and it didn't fail to bring forth the waterworks (but then again, Michael Giacchino did the soundtrack, so I don't know what I was expecting). I love J.J Abrams as a director and show-creator, but I feel like sometimes I forget what an amazing writer he is. I love how he uses the circumstances of the (science fiction) story to bring characters together and help them understand what bothers and hurts them. And I love how he uses situations that will never happen in real life to (maybe, hopefully, optimistically) help people heal. Yeah, Super 8 is, at it's core, a movie about loss and letting go, and that's a very universal theme that has me going: this right here is why stories are so important. And...I'm done.
+ Nikita. Jan 6th is so far away. And I'm really bummed about how low the numbers are this season. Silly CW, sticking a sophomore show on Friday nights with no lead in. I absolutely hate how much TV is a numbers game. Who cares if the show is well written and engaging when the numbers for [whatever stupid show you can't stand] are much higher? Seriously CW: If anything happens to this show, anything at all, I swear to you, I will get very choked up. Honestly, there could be tears.
+ Psych. I'm waaay behind and it's sad. I'm too lazy to shell out for cable and hulu only gets the episodes 30 days after they air, which saddens me greatly. But - The Amazing Psych-Man and Tap-Man, Issue #2 was hilarious. Also, I have a thing for characters spouting lines from the theme song. It makes me oddly happy.
+ Criminal Minds. Caught a rerun of an old episode a few nights ago, and there was no Garcia/Morgan. At all. I know this happens, and it was a very Rossi-centric episode (I have no problems with Rossi; I like the guy well enough.), but...CM is like chocolate cake, and Garcia/Morgan, for me, is like the tasty icing on top. Without the icing, the cake is still good, just...not quite as sweet. Also, I think I've been watching too much of this show. I was watching Castle, and Casket was are on the hunt for a serial killer (a sniper) and I'm sitting there on my squishy sofa thinking: This isn't how the BAU would catch this guy. Why is Beckett after him when Reid and Prentiss and Hotch and Morgan and Garcia could have nabbed him by now? And it's Castle, which I love, so this made me feel...ambivalent.
+ Once Upon a Time. ' Hi' to everyone from the friending meme. I can't wait to get to know all of you. How excited are we for the new episode tonight?
