so im doing my spanish homework at work... like ya do... and i have to research the united fruit company for tonight's class.

enter wikipedia, la enciclopedia libre. http://es.wikipedia.com/wiki/portada = my best friend.

so i search for the united (katie keeps typing untied!) fruit company and get the article im looking for...

"United Fruit Company

destacó? destacar? wtf is that? go to altavista's babelfish, which like all internet translators, kind of sucks. but its good for individual words from time to time, so i gave it a shot. destacar = to emphasize. ok... so to "emphasize in production" ie concentrate producing yadda yadda. alright. i get it. but i translated the entire webpage for kicks...

"United Fruit Company
Of Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The United Fruit Company (UFC) (1899-1970) it was a American multinational that emphasized in the production and the commerce of tropical fruits (specially bananas and fragmentation hand grenades) in plantations of the Third world, mainly in Ibero-America, the United States and Europe."

...anyone else notice the discrepancy? piñas (pineapples) to fragmentation hand grenades... wtf, babelfish?
