Orca orca orca!

I think  one of the most frequently asked questions of a newbie triathlete - what to wear?!?! What is the most effective way of getting through the transition? And lastly, what is socially acceptable for wearing on the street for training?
So C and I went to a few bike shops to look for triathlete gear.  Tay cycles only had 3 pieces of clothing, while I think Passi:one also only had a few. When we arrived a BikeHaus, I was overwhelmed. They had a whole rack full of triathlon wear!  I was totally lost. Full body suite? 2 piece suite?  As it was a weekday, Colin, the owner ( I assume) came up to us and asked us - may I help you? I said "Urm - I'm lost, please help! I'm taking part in my first triathlon".

The next question Colin asked, "Are you comfortable with your body?" I waited a moment, and I think in a moment of pride said "Yes!".  He handed me the Orca basic full body suite, and said, try this.  And thats it. I took it, tried it on, C and I chatted with him for almost 2 hours (since we were there last thursday during Chester's operation), and SOLD!

Its very interesting wearing a full suite for training. I keep thinking, what do other people think of me - this bolb of un-toned mass wearing a tight suite to swim and to run??

So today, was my first outing with Orca. In the safety of the hotel, and the low traffic, I sneeked out of the hotel room with the suite, and just a t-shirt on top. I had intended to run then swim, since I wasn't so sure how cold the water was. Alas, the gym's treadmills were full, so no choice - swim. It was a pleasant surprise to find the water nice and warm for the swim.

Swim Time: 19:47min
HR Avg: 139
HR Max: 168

The pool was really small. Since I had the whole pool to myself, i was left to my devices to make the most out of it. I swam diagonally for warmups, and then in circles for the rest of the swim. It was not the best workout, but rather novel.

After 20 minutes, i wanted to do the run. The gym was still full. Arrgh.

I gave up.

But, mission accomplished. Orca tried and tested for swimming. Now for the run...
